please someone help explain about my car's HU and amp.
 

i have the 05 coupe with BOSE head unit. i heard from reading on this board that the wires go from the head unit to the back somewhere, wehre there is an amp, and then to the speakers.

I had a kenwood excelon head unit in my old ride that gave me good enough power/sound to the speakers where i didn't want or need an amp. With this car, will i have to re-wire the speakers throughout my car to use the kenwood head unit? I'd obviously rather use the excelon's built in amp than the external BOSE amp.

I've looked around some posts here and can't find any specific answer to this question. Can anyone help?

Unless your Kenwood has 5 (sedan) or 6 (coupe) channels, you're going to lose power to something.

But by just bypassing at the Bose amp (inputs to outputs and disconnect the amp) and using the Metra 70-7550 harness you don't have to do any re-wiring.

Looking at the FSM, it shows 4 channels off the back of the audio unit that run into the Bose Amp and from there it splits the channels to all speakers. Although I haven't hooked into the G35 bose system before, my Nissan Armada with the 10 speaker system worked perfectly fine with a Double Din installed. I just used the Metra wiring kit with nothing else special. You would need to (or at least recommend) remove or bypass all bose wiring and speakers if you don't plan to use the factory amp.

The system will be louder as the Kenwood pushes more power to the Bose Amp, but not really issue if you ask me. The issue comes in when you want to add a sub and you then have to balance the Bose system with the sub.

You can continue to use the Bose speakers, but that doesn't change that they're still Bose speakers, and Bose = Crap.

Best to replace it all, but if you already have replaced the headunit replacing the amp is going to give you the best increase in sound quality.

thanks for the responses, this makes sense. i guess i was confused because i read a thread somewhere that noted that the factory amp also does some EQ type stuff differently than a regular amp. but just to clarify, the amp is just an amp and nothing special about it? if so, that makes my life a lot easier.

the amp is rated for 2 ohms, but that doesnt mean you cant use 4ohm speakers with the factory amp

I honestly would run new wires to the speakers....or even better run em with an amp.

I hate any kind of processing done by bose, they say they are trying to get a nice even flat response but they didnt succeed.

Just an FYI, running wire to your doors is much easier if you take your doors off
