One 12 or Two 10's?

I need my beat bad. I have two Fosgate P2's from my old car. But the box is to big. I found a good box that will fit just one. I just need a box and new wiring kit.

But theres also good deals on eBay for good 10's with enclosure. Just bad 14 gauge wiring kit. I've heard plenty of people say that 10's can easily hit harder then a lot of 12's and some 15's.

I have a 2 channel amp right now.

Depends on which ones, and any kit that would use 14 gauge wiring on it probably isn't worth getting.

This. Box size is important too. No point in getting a 12" or (2) 10"s that need more space than you can provide. They will sound like doodoo

I just want to Say, i have never heard a 15 that hits harder than a 12... I have also, never heard 1 12 that hits harder than 2 10's... You can EASILY fit 2 10's in your trunk, i have 2 JL 10W7's and those are big "A" 10's and they sound amazing...

I suggest you take a look at jl's... you can get 1 12W7 with a 500/1 jl amp for like 500-600 bucks and it will probably compete against almost anyone you know. if you are REALLY feeling up to it... pay 1200 bucks for a 13W7 with a 1000/1 jl amp and you will DEFINANTLY rock the car to hell, but it sounds sick... and YES the 13W7 fits in the G's... i've installed 3 of them in 3 different friends Gs

But my overall suggestion is 1 JL 10w7 with a 500/1 JL Amp, you will be MORE than impressed with the sound.

I have 2 JL W6 10's with an alpine 500w for each one. Plenty of sound for me.

I would look at the over all cubic footage of air you have in your trunk, then match up a sub with that. I'd say a single P2, in either a 10 or a 12, (I believe those are dual voice coil) would be more than enough with the stock stereo, unless all you want to do is rattle your trunk and drown out any mids and highs your stereo is putting out.

I disagree, I have a Massive DC 12 in my car and it hits way harder than my two kicker 12s i used to have in my truck. I would recommend this sub to anyone you just need a custom box with 2.3 cu. ft. air space in order for it to function properly.

+1... i didint even know people still use 14 gauge :eek3: lol.

for 2 fosgate P2's u need atleast 8 gauge to start. 2 10's your pushing more air / more surface area , more clarity and pick up certain frequency's better. 2 10's definitely ftw over a single 12.

Alright, my bad, I'm back, got stuck in a trance playing L.A. Noire.

And 500-600 for a sub? WTF.

I want something thats going to hit hard. I'm looking into speakers for the front doors as well and run those off a 4 channel to even it all out. What are some good 10's that won't rape rape my wallet?

I'm running a single Alpine Type R 12 in a Zenclosure box right now and it hits pretty good.

As for the question about a $500-$600 sub...

When I get the rest of the system paid off, I'm installing a MTX T9512-44

If I was to buy it from MTX, it's like $830 for a single 12...

I would have to agree with the others, find your box you want, then look at the air space you have, and go from there...

eggyhustles May 20, 2011 10:43 AM

Go with a couple 8's op
