i see you have many questions...

hopefully i answered the question regarding the double din metal bracket.

for this question, there is no trim ring. you need to custom make one. i'm in the process of doing one from scratch (can't reveal my secret project until I successfully complete it). when deciding on the trim ring dimensions, it all depends on how you mount your headunit.

out of the stock four holes, I used the bottom one, nearest the front of the headunit as my "original" hole. I then drilled three new holes to mount additional screws. this gave it the most flush look (i still need to test to make sure the unit opens/closes).

Based on that pic, I think our shop would definitely make a color matched one.

It looks like the brackets fail to center the HU in the opening? That's unusual...

Mounting is similar for the AVIC-D1.

The HU has to be custom mounted in the bracket to get the HU centered & flush.

Ouch drsifu1...whoever did that install in the pic didn't know what they were doing. If I have time later I will take a pic of what mine looks like with the kenwood trim piece. Mine looks really good.

Yeah, I think this makes a big difference on how clean the install looks...

I've also seen other installs where the trim piece is behind the dash finisher

I think its looks better when the trim piece is flush with the dash surface.

That looks slick Black on Black...! My installer put the pioneer trim piece behind the finisher. It looks better than the gap. but. your's is the shiet. I am going to ask him to do a better job I think. My system will be done in like 2 weeks. I will post pics on a new thread of the build...

I agree... takes some time to do all the filing & sanding to shape the trim ring.

The end result is very gratifying, gives it an OEM look.

Once you sand and trim down your trim piece, how does it stay on. or attach.?...Please inform....

The AVIC-D1 trim ring clips into the HU, not sure about the others.

Yeah, it clips on. I sanded the trim piece to fitment first.

Then measured the right amount of space needed for it to be flush with the surface.

Then I mounted the HU.
