LONG - Parrot 3200 LS - Bluetooth Handsfree Solution (if you don't have BT)
 

Been getting a lot of calls in the car and got very tired of reaching for the cell. I bought a new phone a few months back and made sure it had Bluetooth. I hate those Spock BT headsets and can just as easily use the phone but I don't like using the cell in the car.

Had avincar (el_duderino) install the new Parrot 3200 LS handsfree system. It is awesome. Very easy to set up and use. Sound quality on the other end is superior according to my sources, better than the cell alone. The mic has noise canceling and sound output is through a seperate hidden speaker (I have an aftermarket amp and speakers so direct through the system is not recommended). It syncs each time you're within range including all the stats for call times, last calls, etc. You can even associate a pic on my phone (Sony-Ericsson z520a) and it will transfer that as well so the pic shows up on the little screen when that person calls.

Pic 1 shows when it has first recognized my phone. Bars on upper left are signal strength between devices. Upper right bar is battery level on my phone. The little circle pattern is what appears when it is syncing. The white dot rotates around the circle until it is done syncing (like Bluetooth Russian roulette). It disappears once synced.

Pic 2 with flash lets you see the two lower corner buttons, green to activate call, red to end a call. You press the knob in the middle to get to your phone book. When you do you see big block A B C D ... letters. Dial to one of them, press and you're looking at your entries beginning with those letters. Dial to your selection, press the green button and you're dialin' with style. The cord coming down isn't really as noticeable as in the pic with flash and close up. It goes down the seam right there pretty much hidden.

Pic 3 shows the mic. Wires are strung down the pillar to the control module under the dash.

There are other menus you access with the knob as well like a dial pad and other setup options. Pretty darn cool. I just had to share. Call me!

It really is. I wish you could put in your own wallpaper but they just have a fixed selection to choose from.

If you don't mind my asking, roughly what did this run you? I am VERY interested as I am a phone junkie but hate driving and worrying about the phone also. :D Looks like a very nice set up to say the least.

I would love to have this, but my problem is, I need and external antenna. I travel all over the sticks and towers are far and few between. I don't want to just plug in an antenna, the wires look tacky.

Have you tried any of the voice-activated features? (This is the ultimate test for noise cancellation.)

Thanks. I think you can get the unit for $250 + shipping (I just checked e-bay) but then you have to futz with it yourself. Retail down the street is probably more. Your local installer charge will vary but I'd count on at least $100-$150. If you're good at these things obviously you can save some green but time is money and I like having someone to whine at. I tend to stick with vendors I've had success with and avincar did my car stereo as well. Da boys know their stuff.

I have not. It's been so easy to dial up a number I haven't had the urge. After awhile I'm sure I'll be to lazy to even reach across to the dash and will set it up. I may do so now that you've prompted me.

Another cool thing, it will sync with five BT phones.

I have the 3200 as well and highly recommend it. For others doing a new install, please consider this harness/black box we make for Nissan/Infiniti Bose systems. Noremac knows about it but perhaps others would be interested. Go to the HBBH-1 product on the followng link:
