245/35/18 V710's - has anyone tried them?
I'm considering autoxing this year with my G35C in FS and am considering Kumho 710's.
Has anyone tried running 245/35/18's on stock rims all around? I'd like the option of being able to rotate tires front to back as well. This size is also signficantly shorter than the stock tires which is a good thing for gearing and lowering the car, but I'm not sure if it'll cause any additional problems. Also, is there any way to get some negative camber out of our cars without resorting to camber kits? (ex: eccentric/crash bolts) Any input would be appreciated. |
I'm probably going to try the 245 v710 next. On hoosiers now. I was also concerned about the shorter size of the v710 and having problems with making contact between some of the body work up front and the ground. If you do end up trying please post your experiences.
I don't think its legal to run eccentric/crash bolts on our cars since there's no mention in the service manual for their use -- at least in my 2004 manual there isn't. |
I gave the 245/35/18's a shot and they fit just fine. No problems with any ground clearance over speedbumps or high centering on driveways.
The added benefit is that the car feels a lot quicker off the line because of the 8% decrease in overall diameter over the stock tires. Acceleration in all gears feels much better and braking is fantastic. The car is also lower by over an inch (almost 2" in the back) so that helps the center of gravity. I have a feeling I'm going to need a good front sway though - the slaloms aren't feeling that crisp. Another thing I have to get used to is the G's large wheelbase - it's a big car. |
not sure of the tires but our car's alignment specs for camber are negative and i believe you can make it a lil bit more negative
