Help! Can't remove rear rotor
 

I'm removing the rear rotor right now. I took off the two torque bolts and the two caliper bolts, but my rotor won't come off. Do I need to remove any other bolts, or do anything else?

make sure yoru parking brake isnt on

you can try hitting it lightly with a rubber mallet. Or hit the hat with a hammer without hitting the studs.

Do I need to remove the bolt in the center of the rotor?

NOOOO! that bolt is what holds the half shaft on the wheel and to the rear diff to move the car, it is not a part of the rotor so dont even mess with it.

Is there a trick or something? I removed all the bolts already and beating the crap out of the rotor, but it's not even budging. Also, the parking brake is not on.

The parking brake might not be on but the parking brake shoes may be holding the rotor on. Remove the little rubber grommet/stopper thingy from the face of the rotor. Move the hole to the 12 o'clock position. Look inside the hole with a light. You will see a little 'star wheelie' thingy. Take a screwdriver and rotate it down. This will release the tension on the shoes. The rotors could also be rusted on at the hub. Spray some WD-40 on around that area if it looks like it is rusted. I'll post a pick of my rear rotors off to show you what the 'star wheelie' thing looks like.

i just replaced a few lug bolts last tuesday, and i only remeber removing the two bolts that hold the caliper in place. After that i sprayed some wd-40 and the rotor came right out.

Where do I spray the WD-40?

Any other suggestions? I've tried everything you suggested, but it's still not budging.

can you turn the rotor? if so then the parking brake is loose. if it won't turn then you may need to back off the adjustment wheel as mentioned. If the rotor turns and you still can't get it off, then give the hat part of the rotor a few good wacks with a heavy hammer (like a hand driver or big ball peen), hit directly towards the middle of the car around each lug and that should loosen up the rust.

The rotor is turning,but it still won't budge. You mentioned to hit the "hat" part of the rotor. What/where is this?

Thanks for all the help guys. I finally got the rear rotors off but it was a pain in the A$$. I had to bag the hat part right buy the studs for a really long time just to loosen it. Finally when I felt it loosen a little I turned the rotors and banged on it more. Even when I put the new rotors on it was hard to take back off.

use some anti sieze compound on the mating surfaces of the rotor and the hub, this will help to prevent rust from forming and bonding the rotor to the hub.
