new tires gone in 3 months
hey guys. i dont know if any has expierenced this, i have 20 inch wheels, coilovers, and a camber kit. my tires were brand new 3 months ago. I got an allignment done after i lowered it and now.. my tires a worn right down past the ware bar. so i took it back to the allignment shop and they showed me that the camber is ok but the toe is srewed up and its adjusted as far as they can adjusted.
i dont know how to fix this problem, and it gonna cost me 500 cdn a tire every 3 months.. is there such thing as a toe kit or any other kind of adjustment i can do? i have billstien pss9 coilovers eibach camber kit 20 volk racing gt-c toyo t1r 275/30/r20 |
Are you slammed?
|
not too much.. just enough to make the tire about 1/2 below the wheel well..
|
it might be the tires....
toyo tires have been famous for wearing out fast especially if u dont baby them i often heard that when u track them, they will finish in a day or so |
I have customers that have been running T1-Rs with no camber kit on various cars for over a year with good tread left.
This is an odd occurence. Is the alignment still in spec? Did you change the suspension settings at all after the alignment? |
I know that there is nothing we can do about our toes on our rides (at least the fronts). You can get the rears into spec as close to stock, but the fronts will always have a negative camber. I just got new tires also about two months ago, but i got falken fk 452's (245/35/19 front) and (275/35/19 rear) And I'm lowered on swift springs (1 inch drop front, .6 drop rear)

no nothings changed.. thats what gets me.. i went back there and they showed me.. its adjusted the most it can be.. he said someting about a toe kit.. do you know what the factory toe bolt degree range is?
|
spc makes a rear toe bolt. is it your front that's off?
|
no its the rear tires..
|
"3 months" doesn't give any sort of indication how many miles the new set of tires has on them. I understand it's mostly an alignment issue, but the wear is only going to occur as miles accumulate. How many miles did it take to wear this set down? Is the wear only on the inside tread and the outside is still fine?
|
do you have the tow arms and bolts? and the holes rhemed out correctly
|
tires 1/2 inches below the wheel well? - so, you're dropped about 1-1.5 inches. at the same drop, my car's toe was adjusted back to OEM specs, without need for a toe kit. my camber is off, but that's ok, since i have sh1tty 7.5"-wide tires. you should take your G to another shop and redo the alignment.

get rear toe bolts
|
It's not the tires........
The alignment shop told you what the problem is.......so you can't blame
the tires. You've lowered your car past the point where it can be adjusted with the OEM hardware to factory specs. To save you some cash have the alignment shop adjust your coilovers back a 1/2" or so to get you back to factory specs. You'll be lowered about an inch front and back which is still cool but you won't have the expense of buying all the hardware to save your next set of tires. This isn't the shops fault, did you tell them to "Slam it?" Good Luck! :coolio: |
The extremely wide range of factory specs is there to minimize warranty costs, doesn't mean that you shouldn't be at NOMINAL to maximize tire life!
Nothing scares me more than the words "in factory spec". |
