Z S-Techs didn't lower rear of G35 Coupe

I finally got around to installing a set of 350Z S-Techs on my 06 Coupe this weekend. The front dropped a 1.2", as expected. The rear didn't drop at all.

Is that normal? The specs in the G35Sedan's post specify 1.1" drop.

Also, I installed Tokico DSP-9 Shocks, which were suppoed to be shorter (350Z) but in fact, the shafts were longer than stock.

What's going on here?

i dont think that it will drop it that much my s techs only lowere about .60 of an inch

is everything seated correctly? i had to go back and make sure the grooves were aligned properly, of course i messed up one side. poor mistake that i'm glad i caught.

anyways, i just installed mine recently and not noticing a drop either, but i will give it a month before i start to worry i guess. they have to settle a bit.

if you're looking for a lower drop, you can always cut your rear springmount, thread is in the diy section of this site i think.

Have you seen http://www.tein.com/counterfeit/warning.html

Give it some time, but the rear springs on the Tein's are infamous for not dropping the rear the amount advertised, especially on the newer coupes for some reason. A good way to even up the drop is to trim the springmounts that the springs push up against in the rear. Search in the DIY brake/suspension section for a thread by me. It shows you how to do the springmount mod.

give it about 2 weeks to let the springs settle a little more

I say its not seated properly +1

I've checked everything and it's all seated properly. I think I'll go with the spring mount mod. Tein warrants their springs against sagging (settling?) more than 5 mm. It's been a week now and the car seems to have settled with about 1/4" drop in the rear. which was the same as it was about an hour after I was finished with it and took it for a drive.

Well, the springs are not supposed to compress any more than they have (according to the warranty and it's been a week) and I've double checked everything. I will be doing the springmount mod this weekend, taking about 3/4" to compliment the 1/4" it dropped with the springs.

On a positive note, the car drives like it's on rails. Tokico's at 4.5 from firm, Sways set at Med/Med... It's tight. Short of actually forcing it into a slide, I can't break it loose. I took it to an empty mall parking lot and drove it in a tight circle and a figure 8 faster and faster until I realized it was just going to make me dizzy. Awesome.

sounds good, the springmount mod is very easy to do and its free! Now get some an spc/eibach rear camber kit and you'll be set

Larry@Showtime Aug 3, 2007 05:19 PM

did you do camber too? i want to lower my car and a friend told me to get these s-techs.. he said i wouldnt need a camber set up so im thinking about it..

I think only 1 member so far has been able to get back in specs without camber kit in the rear with s-techs. No one was able to get the fronts back in specs. So you basically will need camber kits with almost any drop out there. Rears are cost effective, while the fronts may or may not be depending on your driving style and how long you plan on keeping the car
