Need help swapping front springs...maybe i'm missing something?
 

I used the instructions i found in the tech forum in terms of getting the front struts off but i can't figure out how to get the top plate off the strut that is on top of the spring. I see the strut thread with a nut on top of the plate but i can't unscrew the nut because its too low and the plate is blocking it.

I can't tell if the plate is being held there by the nut or if its just sitting there, I tried to tap it off with a hammer and it didn't budge. Is this something you need a impact tool for?
