switch: 04' Brembo's on 07' Coupe & 07' OEM on 04' Coupe

I just purchased an 07' coupe and want to swap the Brembo's from my 04' coupe to my 07' and put the new 07' OEM brakes on my 04'.

Besides having to cut the dust shield on the 07' (not sure what this really means), is there anything else I need to be concerned with?

While I'm at it, i want to upgrade to a stoptech stage 2 brake package. I'm not sure if I should get the one piece or 2 piece package. My main concerns are asethetics, quality and longevity.

Any input is greatly appreciated.
Piero

How much should I expect to pay to do the swap at the dealership. I want to go to the dealership to ensure the brembo's are not damaged at all cuz they are mint at the moment. I will make sure that they know that I have zero tolerance for scratches.

I would expect to pay at least $400-500 for the swap at the dealer.

As for what rotors to get, how hard do you drive it? The 2pc will cool a lot better but may be a waste of money if you don't drive that hard and never use it.

I don't drive hard enough to make a difference for me. I just want best looking product. Something that will not rust. Is there something better out there?

Does the zinc coated discs always look gold in colour?

made by brembo..they r four pots in the front and 2 pots in the rear. identical to the brembos except they dont say it..they say infiniti.

The brakes on the 07 G35 are OEM Infiniti brakes.

The brakes on the 08 G37 are made by Akebono.

I was under the impression that the 05+ sports brakes were just as good if not better than the OEM Brembo's

:bowrofl: They are 2 piston floating calipers in the front and single piston floating calipers in the rear as opposed to the Brembo setup which is 4piston fixed caliper front and dual piston fixed caliper rear. I mean, just look at them, they don't look anything alike

Depends on what you mean by good. The stopping distances are likely very similar, but the OEM brembos will have better brake feel and heat capacity compared to the 05+ dual piston setup. So for single stop performance on the street, you will likely not notice the difference

You'll just have to swap over all of the calipers, rotors, brake lines, and rear Brembo caliper bolts.

It will be a good time to upgrade to stainless brake lines. You're going to have to bleed the brakes anyway. Get at least 2 liters of brake fluid too.

The dust shileds on the rear hubs of the 07's will be too small, so they will need to be cut. Once you remove the rotor, you will see what they are.

The 04 dust shields may also need to be cut because they will be too big.

It's a swap that can be done yourself.

There is some info out there that suggests the master cylinders should be switched also for the newer 05-06 brake systems
