For those w/ 03-04s & have upgraded to the 05+ front/rear brakes
 

How do you like it? Stopping power? Feel? Pad / rotor life? Thinking of upgrading myself.

Still fits under your non-sport oem 17"? Spare fits?

If you can get the brakes for cheap, I'd do it. I don't think you'll be AMAZED with the 05-06 brakes, but they do offer some benefits that made it worth it for me.

Stopping power is still good. It just doesn't bite as hard initially, so modulating the brake is a lot easier. I love the fact that the pads don't create black dust as much as the 03's. Pad life is good, had mine on for about a year and a half now and still have plenty of pad left. My non sport OEM 17's fit, but I don't know about the spare. I've never tried the spare.

Thanks Bert. I couldn't remember who actually did this. I'm getting a complete set for a decent price. If your non-sports clear I think the spare would also. This means I can run my blizzaks on my oems.

What pads are you using?

03-04 sedans already stop from 60-0 under 110 feet, and 70-0 under 160 feet. If u look that stat up, it is up there with the best supercars in the world. Changing it to any kind of brakes is not going to shorten that distance even if u got 16 inch BBK. To improve the fading under very harsh conditions, get the stainless steel lines and RBF600 brake fluid and get hawk pads and u will dramatically improve the fade resistance.

and you'll still be replacing the pads/rotors every 15k miles :o (assuming you're using oem parts)

FWIW, i changed out the front and rear pads on my 05 at 30k. The fronts still had 6/32nds of life but the rears were toast (canyon driving and having the slip light come on too many times)

Klubbfoot. Yeah the brakes are decent as is. Unfortunately, Infiniti chooses to use some whack job pads to get that performance. Warps the rotors and dusts like crazy.

I think this might be a great upgrade (however slight) to get that same performance with maybe a more friendly pad. ie.. using the bigger calipers/rotors to up the brake torque vs using an ultra aggressive street pad.

Well if its time to replace the rotors, get better ones. :biggthumpup:

I got mine from Jason@riverside. As far as the brake dust goes, just going to hawp HPS pads should solve that problem.

get the lines through these sponsors. they usually give pretty good deals. i plan on doing a simple upgrade like you.. i already have the hawk pads, i'm getting steel lines in the summer. I was going to go with a slotted rotor, but there really is no benefit for me, other than aesthetics

Jeff - I'm using OEM pads for now. I'm thinking about giving the Project Mu's Vita Nuevo brake pads a shot next. I don't track or race my car but just do an occasional spirited driving every now and then.

I put set of project mu pads on my 05 with the stock rotors and i was pretty displeased with them. They dusted like crazy compared to oem pads and they ate up some good life out of the rotor as well. Plus, braking performance was un-affected from what i could tell (and i'm a very spirited driver) and they only lasted 15k miles. I have since switched back to oem pads and am once again pleased with their awesome performance.

How's the 05 oem pads? The pads on the calipers I'm getting look new. But man, if they dust like the 03-04 oems, I'm going to hate it. It's bad enough cleaning the coupe 19s as it is

read my post above... they hardly dust at all, even after a week of city driving the wheels are hardly dirty.

WORD, my 03 pads made my rims looked bad (red/black dust) like not even 2 days after I'd wash the car. With the 05 pads I don't have that issue at all. LOVE the 05 pads
