40K mi, time to change brake pads?

I've got a little over 40K miles on my 05 coupe. Everytime I've had the car into the shop they've said the brakes are fine. I haven't had the car in since the 30K checkup since I change my own oil. I'm thinking it's time to change the pads. What is the typical change interval for the stock pads on an 05?

Also, I've been reading up on here and it seems as though the OEM pads are good to go for an 05 but you have to get the M35 ones (part num). Is this true? I honestly haven't had any issues with the amount of dust from the 05 pads, I think they're great. I'm seeing no reason to go to Hawk HPs and worry about the squeeking everyone seems to get. Opinions on staying OEM vs. aftermarket and which?

Heard Hawks are good, but been happy with Nismo on my 04

If you've gotten 40k out of your OEMs and you're happy with them, stick with them.
