Can't get the rear rotors off!
I can't get the rear break rotors to come off of my car. I tried banging the hell out of them. Anyone have some quick insight?:confused2:
Bang harder...
I used a heavy @ss rubber mallet on mine. |
stupid question, but e-brake still engaged?
Loosen the e-brake shoes? PB blaster?
Mine rears were really fused. Had to get a long 2x4, propped it against the rotor, walked to the other side of the car, and beat on the 2x4 like it owed me money. |
wow so they are usually pretty tough to get off I see!
a rubber mallet won't even get mine off . use like a iron hammer bang it like 3-4 times around the hats it will come loose ( dont hit the rotor it will mess it up)
you could try spraying some WD on it and let if sit for 5-20 min then try....
rinse under hot water :P , u sure u have unscrewed or loosened everything , double check, maybe the rear has another step to it
Banged like hell and got em off! thanks for the help guys!! :)

What did yo umake the 2X4 rest on? I've loosened the shoe 15 clicks , used PB blaster and am sitting here banging with a hammer ... FRICK! anyone got pix? I hate this crap |
Prop it against the side that is towards the center of the car. I used a 2x4 about 6ft long. Walk to the other side of the car and hammer the opposite end. You'll have to put some muscle behind the wacks.

try using a dead-weight mallet. it worked a lot better for me than a regular rubber mallet; there's no bounce back...
got the first one off after 50 min.... the second one took 15 min
