Help, Tire Place Scratched my Brembo's
 

Long story short, they mounted my rear tires on the front and fronts on the rear's and scratched my front calipers. You can't really tell from a distance, but up close you can. There are two pretty good chucks out of each caliper. They work just fine, just scratched.

So the tire place offered to replace them, thought they have a had that was going to get them fro 600 for a refurb pair. But the place called them today and said they weren't fixable, and they can't find anywhere else to get them.

So my options are:

1. Continue to wait for a refurb, with no ETA
2. Insist on new ones from nissan 3-6 week wait and its going to cost them almost 2,400 bucks (I think that unfair to them)
3. Take a cash settlement, they offered 500 to start, I am thinking closer to 1,000 and try to pick up a used set from someone on the forum
4. Send my current calipers off to the brake place and they will strip them and repair them and send them back. 3 weeks of the car being down, and they are out a bay for that time as well.

They were truely sorry about it, and are willing to work with me, where most places would have probably told me opps and good bye. So I am trying to find a happy medium. I am thinking options 3. Thoughts?

I just dropped 10K on the Vortech and body kit, otherwise I would just buy 19's and put on a BBK.

These guys have a 1 week turnaround time on average. You can have them done in a custom color too while you are at it. A local shop should be able to do the same as well

depends on how bad it is... if it's just a couple of knicks, just
touch it up with some honda paint (do a search on the color).

if it's seriously scratched take the $500, sand it down and
just paint all 4 calipers another color using some caliper paint,
i suppose.

Take the car to a decent local body shop & get an estimate - I would think any body shop would be able to handle the caliper refinishing without too much difficulty and you would be out for less time. I'm sure they'll also give you a discount for removing and sanding/stripping them yourself.

Take the offer before they go out of business like half of the economy is doing now....LOL

Option 3 is probably best for both parties..

Take the $500, take all 4 calipers them to a powder coater, pick a nice custom color, have them rebuilt in the process, then profit.

Self painting won't look that great. Even of a body shop does it, it won't be as durable as the oem stuff. Powder coat is where it's at

I know The Powdercoater and he does great work. You can't go wrong having him powder coat them if you want to.

The other option os to touch it up with Honda touch up paint. I think it is Inca Gold. You can search and find the paint code and pick it up from the Honda dealer. It matches really well.
