would i need a camber kit???with 20's/tein coils
 

:driving:i have an 03 LR 6mt...i just bought a set of mrr 20" and i have a set of tein basics that im planning to install...my question is would i need a camber kit for the front/rear? does anyone have this set up...any advice would be appreciated...i was planning on 19's but thinking putting 20's may result of not needing a camber kit

Depends on how far you drop. Usually everything but the sightest drop will require at least a rear camber kit. I have 350z H-Tech's which provide a very mild drop and I had to get front and rear cambers.

Best course of action is to drop your Teins however low you want them, and go get an alignment and see what happens. I would bet on needing front and rear cambers though.

i just want the fender space between the wheel and fender to disappear so not planning on dumpin it too low...but what size rims did you have?

wit 20's i think your gonna be looking at maybe a 1" drop if u wanna just cover that gap.. but even with that ur gonna need some cambers.. worst case u were just saving urself frm tire problems later..

Agreed, even mild drops will result in tire wear with these cars due to the lack of OEM camber/toe adjustment (none at all in the front). Not buying a camber kit from the start will just result in having to buy tires at more frequent intervals, so might as well bite the bullet from the start and buy a camber kit. Gotta pay to play. :biggthumpup:

And for OP's question, I am running 19" wheels with 245/35/19 tires front and 275/30/19 rear. I'm not sure how differing wheel sizes affect tire wear so I won't comment on that.

Either leave it a stock height or be prepared to spend $$....!
 

If you've noticed our cars are not great for tire wear with the OEM settings so any alteration in height if it's springs or coilovers will result in your needing rear adjusters and adjustable a-arms up front. Have you checked the price of quality tires lately? Like was mentioned prior it's better to do it right the first time than to eat thru tires on a regular basis! My last set of Michelin's cost $400 each installed w/tax, would you like buying those once a year cause you were to lazy to install what was needed....:OHBOY:

yah your right...i guess ill install them like tragedy cat said and see how it goes...but the whole time i was thinking if I get a set of 20" rim that i might get away with the camber kits, at least not needing the front

Ok so, this thread speaks to the dilemma I'm facing now. It's time to buy some tires so I figured I'd by rim's and tires. Right now I'm running stock everything (18's). My plan was to go up to 19's but the rim dealer told me that tires for 19's are more expensive than tires for 20's.
So from reading this thread and a couple others it seems that if I install 20's I'm going to also need to change the camber (purchase a camber kit f/r), buy new shocks f/r.
I guess I'd be hard pressed to find someone with 20's installed without any spring or camber mods.

^If you don't change anything with the suspension than a camber kit / new shocks will not be required. Wheels and tires don't matter.

Anything over a half inch requires kits in front and back. Half inch recommends a rear kit

It's true that tires for 19's are more expensive then 20's, I heard that several times. But 19's look best on a g35, 20's are too big IMO.

Thread is almost 5 years old but the answers haven't changed! If you lower your G35 any amount you'll need a full camber kit...fact! Best price on quality tires, www.tirerack.com they sell tires at wholesale or try American tire for a price comparison.
