BC's or Tanabe???
I am stuck between the two brands. Just trying to see peoples opinions on either on these brands as far as coilovers go...BC BR type's or the Tanabe pro-5 kit??? Can anyone gimme some input thanks.

my vote goes for the BC's, i dont think you can compare them to the tanabes, tanabes to me are comparable to megans or ksports

^^^ kool...but then on average why do they run a bit higher in price than the bc's? there like 2 hundred dollars more expensive than the bc's and i assumed the bc's are american and the tanabe obviously being japanse?

I have the Pro-5's, my only complaint is that I can't go any lower. I believe the BC's have an insane drop.

^^^ pretty sick ride man...thanks for the pic of the tanabe's...im getting some 20x9.5+15 fronts and 20x10.5+15 rears so i kind of need a good size drop, so i guess im leaning with the bc's...but again sick car^^^

american, german, japanese, chinese, taiwanese.....all the coilovers you can find probably have asian parts and are somewhat built in china/taiwan.
I put the BC's higher than the tanabes because i love my BC's and the other cars (not G's) ive riden in that have tanabe are not that impressive. the dampening is not as good as the BC's IMO, but then again, thats only from feel. and yes, the BC's can drop you to the ground if you so desire. |

yes, if theres one peice of advice you take from me its to skip springs and jump straight to coils. i had springs and many like them, but once you get coils youll understand why i say dont even bother with springs.

i also just read up on the tanabes and it seems they are a twin tube design, for that reason alone id stay away from them but thats only if your really into the handling of your car and/or tracking. if its just the height then ignore what i just said, lol.

thanks yea i basically just have two windows open and im comparing the two..but i figure i ask some people who have actually have personally dealt with either brand, but again thanks for the responses, hey i was just curious which type of bc's...the br type 230mm ones??? i think thats the ones that i've been quoted for., is that the type you dealt with or are familiar with?

Megans=Best Bang For The Buck...I been running megans for about a year,and I'm very happy,plus they are cheaper than tanabe and BC..

Second vote on the BC's. Have them, love them. They're looking into offering a slightly taller rear spring for those who want to go back to OEM height for any reason. I have the 230mm rears and the highest drop is still about 26.5" off the ground -- fender to ground. It's fine for me, pretty close to OEM for alignment, but those who deal with snow may not like it that low.
Btw, BC's are Taiwan-made, they're the OEM for other coils -- (from what i've seen) Megan, Greddy and other off-brands, but don't take my word for it. |
well i live in an area that gets hit hard with snow and if for some odd reason i need to ride the g in that type of weather i wanna be able to throw the old winter tyres and run back to near oem height.

I bought the Tanabes because they give a more comfy ride than the BCs. The only downside I have seen in them is the amount of drop they offer. BC will let you slam your car, the Tanabes won't. I'm OK with that though, don't want a slammed ride, just lowered enough to eliminate wheel gap.
I've only had them on for a few days so they will settle a bit. Front and rear still have plenty of drop available.
