Stock suspension height question / Fenders rolled after S-techs on 20's??
Hey guys, noob question here,
I put my 20's and 20 mm offsets on my car, and im still sitting on stock suspension unfortunately. I have tein s-tech's and kinetix front camber arms, just waiting to get the rear camber arms and toe bolts, and hopefully i wont have to roll the fenders either, i guess we'll see. Anyways, if i look at my rear suspension now, on the driver side i have about 2 fingers gap, and on the passenger side rear i have 3.5 fingers gap, really confusing to me, what could this be, or when i put the new springs in it would all line up, never really noticed til I put the rims on. No noises or anything coming from the rear unless its really cold, and i heard thats the compression rods or something that in really cold temps squeak slightly. Car has 70K and its an 03. Thanks for your help, and also do you think with the s-techs, and a +20 in the back with a 20x10inch wheel and 285/30 tires am I going to need to get my fenders rolled? Sorry for all the questions but figure make one thread instead of multiple. |
How wide are your wheels?
I suspect, with 285 tires and +20 offset and s-techs, you're going to need to roll your fenders. Did you buy the car used? Maybe the previous owner did something, like replace the passenger shock, and not the drivers side :dunno: Or maybe the previous owner was "hefty" and wore out the drivers side shock faster that the passenger side :dunno: just my 2 cents |
I suspect its a coupe?
I believe that you will need to roll the rear slightly, but im not 100% sure. Was your car on level ground when you checked the gaps? Even the slightest change in elevation seems to throw the suspension off. My driveway is pretty level, but not level enough because my drivers side sits about 1/2 lower than my passenger, but on a flat level surface the gaps are about the same. |
yes completely level ground. it is a coupe, and the wheels are 10inches wide in the rear. i did buy the car used but as far as i know he didnt replace any shocks. i figure maybe ill just buy two rear shocks, but my concern is why replace them if it has nothing to do with it?

you don't absolutely need to roll them with your sizes/offsets your borderline but over some of the harder bumps you will hear it rub in the rear and the inside of the fender has a sharp edge that will leave a line in your tire.. i would do it to avoid issues.
