diy'er thinking about replacing bushings
I need to replace my bushing in the front control arm. Is there a DIY or any instructions out there that tells you how to do this?
My tires are worn bad from the worn bushings, esp inside treads. |
I'd say no, unless you have press or air tools. It is max 1.5 hrs of labour at the shop+alignment, just pay for it.
Otherwise instructions are simple: take front control arm off, get old bushings out, put new bushings in. |
He's right its really easy i only used the manual for tourqe specs...
Helpful hint PB Blaster the shizz out of the bolts, I even had to borrow one of those electic tourqe wrench to help me on a few of the bolts. How are you planning to press in the new bushings? I paid a local shop to press in the new bushings for me and just tipped them 10 bucks.. Heres a diy from Jason to help you http://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-s...translink.html |
^nice find, looks like if you can change a wheel bearing(rear bearing, not the front wheel bearings, they were too easy)....you can do this DIY.
OP are you sure you don't just need a wheel alignment? Although worn bushings can result tire wear, you should notice a shake on high speeds and problems tracking the car straight also. |
There's a 350z website I won't mention that has a great DIY for this.
An electric impact is a must for suspension work. I wouldn't attempt it without one. It took me about four hours to get this done, but I had to drive to a shop and let them press them out/put the new in, plus lunch ;). Super easy, just time consuming. Those cotter pins were a bish to remove, too. |
