03-04 brake upgrade vs OEM 05-06 or brembo on a DD
 

Time for new brakes on my 2003 sedan. I would like to upgrade for better performance and feel. My car is strictly a daily driver and at most will see some spirited Street driving. The one thing I actually do like about the stock brakes is the initial grab/bite even though people seem to hate it. I see the most common upgrade is going to the 05-06 2 piston calipers and larger rotors. Another choice that seems popular is upgrading to OEM brembo brakes.

My question is that is it worth the cash to upgrade, will I feel a night and day difference from my current setup or should I just get better rotors and pads and fancy brake fluid?

If you like your current system why change it? Fresh brake fluid is good but you probably won't see a difference with a nice dot4 fluid unless you track. In brake pads you usually have to give something up in order to improve on a different factor. Between dusting, noise, cold bite, max temperature, rotor wear, cost, you have to sacrificrifice something to improve on something else.

Is there a specific deficit with your brakes you are trying to improve? Unless you track your car your brake system is probably fine. What do you mean by performance? The stock brake setup is good enough to get your car to abs brake, so your braking is mostly tire limited. If you want better stopping distances get better tires. It's only if you go track the car that you end up with heat buildup and need things to either dissipate heat or work at higher temps.

Now If you do track the car the stock brakes are laughably inadequate.

03 sedan brakes use small rotors. In order to get performance, they have to use very aggressive pads. Alot of dust and rotors wear out very quickly. Even with street use.
