Energy Suspension front lower control arm bushing set - without metal shells?
 

I just bought the Energy Suspension front lower control arm bushing kit - 73121g for my 2004 G35.

My mechanic is saying these won't work. I know nothing about cars so i've tried to research it as much as possible. From what i've found, these definitely work and are meant to be more 'free moving' than other bushings - which was his concern. But mainly he said that they need metal shells on them.

I've since found out that a lot of energy suspension bushing sets require you to reuse the existing metal shells in your car by burning out the current bushings. However I can't find anywhere that says that is requires with this set.

So, do I need to reuse the existing shells or are the ES poly utherine bushings designed to be used without metal shells?

If they do need shells, and my current shells are busted, how and where can i order just the shells?

They are designed to be used without the 'shell' (or 'race' as its called). Just show him this picture, and he'll see.

I told him to go ahead and put them on and he said categorically that they won't work and they will slide all over the place and I'll be back in a day or two??

I've known him for a long time and have always trusted him in the past but am a bit worries now. I've read they are meant to slide a bit no? I'm worries from his certainty that maybe he might put them in wrong.. Can you put them in wrong?
