What's a good setup? Tein Basic?

I am planning to lower my car enough to kill the gap, but i have NO knowledge of suspension. Some people suggest Tein Basic Coliovers to me, because it's not too expensive ($800) and is adjustable. I don't need a fancy suspension, but i do want my suspension last(instead of just replace the spring). Any suggestion is appreicated, thx.

Search but you will come up with Tein basics for a budget as well as Tokico Dspec shocks with s or h tech springs

Basics are only ride height adjustable, and not dampening adjustable....if you also want dampening adjustability (control how hard/soft the ride is), you can go with TEIN CS, FLEX / CUSCO / JIC / HKS......

If his goal is only to lower the car, the BASIC is all he needs. Another might be Megan Racing, which is a little more expensive, but offers a lot more adjustability and does come with pillow mounts aswell.

tein is pretty good..
but if you are looking for a dual purpose coilover. With independent preload and height adjustment and damping adjustment zeals are also good but they are pretty pricey. Megan racing i would stray away from since they aren't that reputable as of yet

I've been very happy with my Basics so far. There is a reason I didn't take you up for a ride on the Zeal's- my coilovers would suddenly feel inadequate and I would have to spend more money! :D

I have the H&R springs on my sedan with 245/35/20's and there is no gap at all. Plus the back does not sag like with the Eibach's.

HAHAHAHAH!

He gave me a ride with the Zeals. My goodness... I was ready to plunk down money right then and there, even before trying out my new setup. He's evil I tell you! He lures you in with lower prices then smacks you with new mods!

Just kidding :P

I'm assuming you had Josh install your springs/shocks?

anotheraznguy Feb 15, 2006 08:16 PM

correct...
i just don't like the basics...
they don't allow for independent spring preload and ride height adjustment..
anything other than tein factory specs will equate to losing stroke

Megan racing, $850 on ebay.

Megan Racing, POS. Have you tried them? Do you know anyone thats tried them?

anotheraznguy Feb 17, 2006 01:48 AM

i've tried them...
they aren't that great.
but if you don't care about ride harshness or handling and just want to lower your car a lot
then go with megan racing.
