Will this wheel/tire combo rub???

I just got a set of 19" Superleggera III's and I am a little worried about them rubbing. My G is lowered about 3/4 of an inch all the way around. Here is the setup -
Front - 19x9 +27 offset with 245/35 tires
Rear - 19x11 +40 offset with 295/35 tires

What do you all think? Am I safe?

My rears will be tucked in 2mm more than the Strosek Z, the fronts 7mm more. I'm not worried about the fronts, just the rears. The Strosek Z is dropped 25mm (a little under 1") for these photos. The tires are 245/35 up front (same as mine) but 275/35 in the rear. This is what worries me.

Anyone??

i think the rear's going to rub the shocks (no joke).

you might want to pick up a 3mm or 5mm spacer.

They came off of a Z, no issues with hitting the shocks in the rear. He didn't rub in the rear, but he was on stock suspension, no drop.

+41 running 275/35/19 will be less than 10mm from the rear shock on a lowered G. you're going to cut it real close. i think it will rub when the
sus compresses as the neg camber exponentially increases.

+41 on what inch rim? Front or rear?

kenchan 02-18-2006 12:02 AM

rear... you won't be running 275's on the front right? ;) (see my post above)

Nate_Johnson17 02-18-2006 12:23 AM

I was talking about the rim width in the rear with a +41. Yeah I guess it doesn't make much sense with a 275 in the front:D

kenchan 02-18-2006 12:03 PM

19x10" with 275/35/19 +41 is about less than 10mm from the
rear shocks. :) (this is from personal experience)

so 11" with 295 (10mm+ additional each side of rim for the 295 tire
width + sidewall for the 11" of the rim) is probably going to rub.

kenchan 02-18-2006 12:08 PM

side note:

i can't be for sure that your's will rub because im running -2.6 camber on
the rear at about -1.5" lowered so not sure how it would compare to
what your setting is right now.

if it was on my car, your rear wheels will rub my shocks for sure unless i
run at least a 5mm offset spacer. i have in my garage several widths
that ive been playing around with. one of the reasons why I like the
SSR GT3's...you can play around with the offsets using spacers to
dial-in exactly wat i want from my car's handling.

the other wheels only come with lower offsets so you're pretty much
stuck with wat they give you... imho, not fun cause i have adjustable
swaybar, adjustable dampers.. why not have adjustable wheel offsets?
:)

Wow, thats a mad drop! 1.5 inches! I got my camber back within spec (barely) after my drop. I found another member on here running with SSR's with pretty much the same offsets and rim widths as me with the same drop. I PM'd him to ask about his experience with it and I haven't heard anything back. He didn't say anything about any spacers or fender rolling in his posts. We'll see.

kenchan 02-19-2006 04:36 PM

Scoupe- your PM's full so here's your answer:

the smaller the positive offset, the closer the
outer sidewall will be to the inner fender.

for example, a wheel with +20 might be flush but
+35 would be tucked in.

on our cars, most people run low offsets (+20 to
+23) so some of them encounter rubbing the
inner fender while running wide tires/wheels.

Nate_Johnson17 02-19-2006 06:22 PM

Actually I spoke with the member (dennis_said) and he didn't have any problems with his rubbing the shock or the fender with his drop and 295 tires. He has 19x11 with a +39 offsets and a 19x9 with a +27 offsets (same as mine in the front) I think I'm safe, at least I hope!

They fit PERFECT!! My camber is a little messed up but they fit. No rubbing! Pictures to come later, they look HOT though!

ashadiow 03-02-2006 06:48 PM
