Down Payment on a Lease -- Pro's & Con's (?)

What are the pro's & con's of putting $$ down on a lease. Of course a pro would be a lower monthly payment & a con would be that you would lose the $$ if you totalled the car before the end of the lease. I'm thinking about leasing an 07 G35S.

What are the rest of them?

Thanks!

This is how I looked at it.

1. If you have a business and can use your cash like there is no tomorrow then don't put a Down payment.

2. If you just have cash laying in bank earring up lousy interest and you are not doing anything with it, put the down payment.

Make sure you don't go above 5K either, cause that's just too much for a lease and if your finance shows you, you'll see the difference of 500-1000 additional doesn't change that much. Maybe up to 30-50$ max. I went with 4500.

What are the standard lease terms for someone with good credit? Is it better leasing and older car 03-06, versus leasing a new one? I'm seriously thinking about leasing a coupe but know very little about leasing terms/options.

Do you take the "insurance" option at a Blackjack table when the dealer is showin that Ace?
I think a down payment on a lease is a "house bet."

I never gave a penny on any car I leased, and the monthly payment did not change much. Alot depends on the money factor.
Most dealers have room to play with the prices they offer. You just have to be willing to walk, and go to another dealer.

Just my .02cents

If you wreak the car with a big downpayment you lose.
