Pro's and Con's
Hello,
I am a new enthusiast, but have been fond of the G35 coupe ever since I laid my eyes on one. Driving it was a whole other experience! I am looking to buy one in the next year or two. What are the pro's and con's between the years they were produced? Any major issues? I see that rattling is an obvious issue, but should be simple enough to fix? Maybe some of you could include personal likes and dislikes of the coupe and the year you have of course. I appreciate all input, if there is already a thread similar to this please point me in the right direction, this forum is huge. I will return often to check the thread. |

Everycar has their problems. Just buy a G and run with it. The 05+ 6MT have oil comsumption problems(but DON'T let that deter you away from buying one since it is under warrenty and is not as common as it may seem). Ohh yea, I think the HU on the 03 die. Correct me if I am wrong. But Infiniti just resets it, I think. But just do a search on the models.

AGThing1227, thanks for the info on that. Is there any particular URL or stickied thread on here that has all the technical issues? I would assume there would be some oil consumption on any VVT engine. How much oil consumption are we talking? |
i am actually going thru gettin my head unit fixed on my 03 it costs about 2000$ to get a new one, but thank goodness i just got mine and my dealer is paying for it to be fixed

I understand every car has it's issues. Which year should I steer away from most? Its sounding like the 03? Only the 2006 6MT's have oil consumption problems?

Price to performance ratio - Get an 04(6MT has brembos)
Resale Value/Rev-up - 05-07 Thats my opinion. I am not trying to sound rude but, that was a stupid question "Which year should I steer away from most?". The G is a great car, get any model man. Ha. Have fun! No 05+ have oil problems. But don't worry about it man. It is under warrenty and you get a free loaner if need be. If you want, get an 05 and give it to me. I will deal with the oil problems  and I will buy you an 03 that wont have any. :icon17: -AGThing1227 |
From the research I did, I decided on an '04. Interior obviously not as updated, but I LOVE my Brembo brakes. '03 was out because I will probably never buy a car in its first model year just so that they've had a year to work out the kinks.
Complaints? -No memory seats OR seatbacks (when you move the seat forward, the seat will slide back to its position, but the seatback will be straight up, i mean like maybe more than 90 degrees). -Soft paint (chips easily) -Some say road noise, but if road noise would deter you, you shouldn't own a G. -Occasional uneven tire wear. Some have had it in the front, previous owner had it in the back, but after an alignment and new tires (4000 miles on tires) I haven't seen the problem again. The problem with the front is that you can't adjust the camber. Aftermarket camber kits are sold, but I think they're fairly expensive. Honestly, I can't really think of any other problems, year-specific or otherwise. Overall extremely happy with my purchase! |

-AGThing1227 i have an 05 6MT no oil problems at all i would stay away from 03 since that was the first year... cons: 03-04 have HU problems and on 6MT the Brembo brakes have horrible brake dust and cost and arm and a leg for maintenance... and cheap plastic dated interior. Seems like all years have window motor problems, interior rattles, rear axle click, uneven tire wear most of the time in the front (tire feathering.. wear on the inside of the tires), and soft paint. 05-07 6MT (rev-up engine) have oil consumption problems... 05-07 6MT/5AT door lock actuator goes out.. And Bluetooth sucks (06-07) pros: 03-04 6MT's have Brembo brakes 05-07 6MT's have 298 hp/260 tq (rev-up) higher redline than 5AT's but they have more tq but less hp... 6MT's also have sport suspension and 19's made buy iForged... 06-07 have sport front bumper and sport sides... 06-07 have new projector headlights and new style tails 05-07 6MT/5AT have nicer interior than 03-04 and Bluetooth... wow my info sounds a little confusing... if i forgot anything feel free to add |
