Here's what I'm looking for

So from lurking around, I think I've narrowed my search down. What do you guys think or is there something I'm missing (i.e. some inexpensive option i should get)?

06-07 G35 Coupe
About 20k
OB or IP
Sport Package
Premium Package
Nav? (or should i go with a D3 or similar DD Aftermarket Nav)
Automatic (unless I'm overwhelmed with the fun factor of Manual, I've got one now and LA traffic kills me!) <---I know I'll catch crap for that

Anything I'm too "Newb" to miss?

I got a similar G last year..

05' OB , 25k miles, Sport, Prem, 5AT..
only thing I regret is not waiting a little longer to find one with NAV/Aero, and occasionally the 6MT.

But DEFINITELY get OB..I was actually considering IP myself, but now cant imagine having another color G

Everything you listed is perfect

OB's paint damage is easier seen. stick with IP if you're buying used...a simple clay and wax on an ob can hide a lot of swirls, scratches, and imperfections. an ip's imperfections arent as detectable...so basically they might be there but you will never know. you will know when that wax wears off..

The fun factor of the 6MT vs. the auto isn't even comparable

sport package...i think this consists of 19in wheels, some suspension, and spoiler...if you plan on changing any of these...go with out it...it will save you $

i regret not getting nav, get it then you dont have to worry about getting a DD and everything like i will.

Thanks for the help guys, I will probably swap wheels out but depending on the stance of the sport suspension, i might keep that and save some ride quality. I'm going to go search out some G's on 19's with factory sport suspension. As for body mods, I'd only swap clears, tint the tails, like 5% on the windows, DIY grill, and maybe mess with the headlights painting the housings or something, All my rides I like as murdered out as possible. My Audi, besides the wheels which were going to be powered coated is basically all black, tails, tint and such. I'd post some shots of it, but of course its in the shop getting new oil cooler, coolant flange and i blew a coilpack. Trust me Audi's while fun, are a pain in the a** for maintenance, I'm just glad i bought mine under warranty or I'd be a very poor man.

^ haha are you me?

I'm basiaclly looking for the same car and just about doing the same mods. I also have a '02 passat 1.8t (B5.5), maintanence like you said are costly. unforunately I'm out of warranty.

Goodluck to both of us.

Question no to hijack but I'm sure it'll help you too.
What is the resale value 4-5 years down the road? Since the new G37 are out. It is going to plumpet sooner or later. or slowly decline. After owning a bad reselling car, I looking towards the future!

The resale value is negligable in buying a used car. Not to mention the infiniti cycle seems to be about 4.5 years. In that time they should be releasing the 3rd generation 'g35.' Id put a 05/06 coupe at around 8-10k in 4-5 years time.

Edit: meant to say ..8-10k less in 4-5 years time.

Add manual to it, and you will love it.

GTO Feb 13, 2008 08:14 PM

I have to say I went and drove some Coupe's, and took an Auto for a decent length test drive. When we came back, we then took out a Manual. Sorry that I have to say this to all you manual G Driver's, but that Clutch and shift felt like poop, I must be used to a softer clutch and different gear feel, but I took the manual for like a long round-about and came back because I was so disappointed with the feel.
Anyways, I still dig the Automatic, sad it won't be as engaging to drive, but none the less what I'm looking for. Do any other drivers experience the auto being a little indecisive when you are accelerating thru traffic? I forgot to switch into the fake-manual mode to see how that was.
They didn't have the trim level I was looking for, but I'm not in a great hurry, it'll give me time to sell my Audi private party rather than trade in. So I told him to keep his eye out for the trim level I was looking for and give me a call if something came in. We'll see what happens.
