what's a good offer?

Ok, here's another advice thread for all those out there with much greater G wisdom than I. There's an OB '04 6MT coupe at a dealer near me with ~38,000 miles on it, asking $17,995. It's got nav and the rear spoiler as well, what would you guys/girls offer opening up? I don't think there's a huge market out here in KS, and the economy is just getting worse it seems, so with that in mind, any thoughts?

Thanks

GO KU!

You in topeka? I saw the coupe you were referring to which was located in topeka.

If you want somethin cheaper you might look into getting somethin from a private seller. But there are risks involved with that.

Shoot, even ask for 17,000 to start and find a middleground and stick with it.

I'm in KC actually, Emporia raised since 1st grade... I second the go KU! Where you from?

I'm seeing cheaper prices elsewhere of course, and I'd be down to take the flight/drive back... I've got hometown Nissan dealer friends who can get something at auction for a fair amount less than that, but I was curious as to people's thoughts.

It would be nice if they could swap it so I could just buy it from the Emporia folks, which depending on the cost I would think might make a significant difference. My main problem is that I'm wanting it now you know?

Also, do you get much trouble from cops on your tint? I see it's 20%, and I thought 35% was the limit round these parts, so that would be good to know

check kbb.com.. car is never excellent.. only 5 percent are.. you should be paying private party price or even less.. good luck and let us know how it went

I agree with r15k, find some middle ground. 17k sounds like a good offer. Check out the kbb, it's usually a good reference. Don't pay more than KBB especially in today's economy, it's a buyer's market.

Thanks for the input, I'll look into that and it definitely is a good time to be looking. Another question, and this may be one that isn't easily answered as a general statement, but how appreciable is the insurance change once one hits 25? And should I wait to buy it until that time, which would be the end of February?

PM me the VIN. If it was sold at an auction within the past 30 days, I'll be able to tell you exactly what they paid.
