I'm interested in an 06 G35x Sedan...could use tips

Hi all,

I've had a 96 Infiniti J30 since 2000 and even though it's only at 94k miles, I'm sick of repeatedly failing NJ state inspection due to emissions, ECU codes, etc... and I want a newer car. :icon17: I was going to try cash for clunkers to get 3500 towards my J on a new Toyota Venza, but I think I prefer to stay with Infiniti and luxury.. although my trade in value will be crap. :icon43:

I'm really interested in the AWD G35 sedan... automatic because I like to cruise and I hate stick.... and I don't drive much anyway (short commute)... I'd like an 07, but it might be out of my price range... I think 22k is my limit, so I guess an 06?

I'm looking at various 06 listings in the NJ area, and I see some from 19-24k, but I'm not sure what to look for when I go check them out at the dealer.

My main reason for wanting something new is because I'm sick of rear wheel drive and a tiny trunk. I need to actually fit a guitar amp or keyboard, ya know? :D

I guess my main questions would be, does anyone in my area have a dealer (or works for one) they can recommend? If so, what should I mainly look for when checking the car out.. and what are some common problems/recalls/etc?

I also looked at an 05/06 Audi S4, but those VW's are incredibly unreliable, and a maintenance NIGHTMARE.

I think VWs are a bit more reliable nowadays. I think if you're willing to spend 23-24k, you may be able to get the 08 R32 with DSG. Check out classified at vwvortex. That's what I was looking at before I ultimately decided on the G. I think the biggest problem with those is something about fuel tank TSB and the fact that DSG maintenance is quite expensive.

A G35's trunk is not a whole lot bigger than a J30. Its about 14 cubic feet in the G vs 10 in your J.

As for fitting a keyboard or amp, it really depends on the type/size. I've seen keyboards that wouldn't fit in my trunk. And amps obviously vary greatly.

And an A4/S4 has 1 less cubic foot than the G.

What about an FX35?
