Brakes very interested in a G35 but scared of all the bad brake reviews by users.

Anyone shed some light on how bad the brake situation really is on these cars?
have been looking into getting one and reading all the user reviews on Edmunds.com

have been looking at 03-05s and really had my heart set on one but being that 1 in 3 reviews over there all had break problems in common have scared me a little bit.

I'm coming from a 95 5.0 Mustang Vert that I was involved in a 4 way pileup on Monday and was looking to buy a car very soon as a replacement.

if anyone can shed some light on how to get good life out of the brakes as well as the front tire wear issues id be very greatful.

Bad brakes as in stopping or life?

I just read Edmunds and all it says is "touchy brakes" which means they engage with little pressure.

I dont mind that I got used to it, I dont see why that would be a con?

brake life every 10k-15K.
there is bad review after bad review over at edmunds over brake life and front tire life.
The known issue where they caved and just covered brake pads and rotors longer under warranty.

I want the car but paying 1k+ every 15K miles just for pads/rotors just seems a bit odd Ive been driving 600+ horsepower stangs for 20 years and never had brake life as they are reporting there.

Now if there is a better rotor/pad combo aftermarket I can get the first time they wear out I would do that.

But I dont want to be replacing pads/rotors once a year at full dealer price.

read here on all years user reviews and youll see what I'm talking about.
I didnt come here to bash or be teased for asking a very serious question.

http://www.edmunds.com/infiniti/g35/...eview.1...html

This will be my first Luxury Sports car and will be jumping into long term financing on it.
I'm just trying to learn why people are saying these things and if there is a way around them using the aftermarket.

You can machine rotors, and I am at 10k miles with 7-8mm of brake pad left. Stock Pads

There are many after market rotors/pads, I am not so easy on the brakes. But not really that hard on them.

Ok that's cool still seems a bit fast on wear. I'll be driving in city stop and go traffic every day in this car.

so yes warning bells went off in my head when I started reading so many people talking about the G35 and how short the brakes last and how expensive they are.

when you're done w/ the OEMs, just change out the pads for some hawk hps pads. the OEMs just wear out quick, that's it.

^^ True. Most of those problems quoted IMO are with the dealerships pushing expensive brake jobs. Some years (especially early) go through pads fast, but pads and even rotors are not THAT expensive and the old adage is true -- you gotta pay to play. You don't hear about it much on this forum, I wouldn't let it put you off.

Ok thanks guys that helps put my mind at ease.

I kinda figured it was dealers screwing people with huge prices.

if its just a matter of changing to a different type of pads and aftermarket rotors to get decent life out of them thats not that bad.
