03 coupe with 147k miles
I'm new to the forum and I hate for this to be my first post, but nothing that I've read so far has been as close as I'd prefer, so forgive me please.
Anyways, I'm looking at an 03 coupe 6mt with 147,xxx miles on it for $8,000. The guy has already said that it is negotiable, but we haven't negotiated yet. I spoke to him and he says that he has only had the car for 6 months and does not know the prior history. He seemed educated about the car and honest about the ups and downs. Overall, he was nice, but I am curious about an insider's opinion - is this a good buy? What would be a good offer? I plan on dd'ing it. Here is the ad: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/4535489339.html Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Jimmie |
you can always run the VIN# with carfax.
https://secure.carfax.com/creditCard...SiteLocation=6 before you drop thousands, it would be smart to drop the $40-50 and learn the past history. |
No service records? That would be a deal breaker for me. Who knows when the clutch was changed last, or if the fluids/plugs are good. Unless you have plenty of money set aside after you buy it for maintenance, I would avoid. Just my .2 cents.

One of the things he mentioned was that the throw out bearing would make noise when the car was cold, but would go away once it warmed up. He recommended that while in there, I should change the clutch.

If anyone is following this, we've negotiated the price down to $6800. I'm trying to track down the history on it now. Any new thoughts?
