Looking at 6MT, VIN says auto?
I came across an ad on Craigslist for an 06 6MT in the Houston area (4hrs from me). I've been texting the owner who sent me the VIN. When I google the VIN it comes up as an automatic. He's only had the vehicle a few months, so he doesn't know the history. Maybe the tranny was swapped. Are there negatives/positives to swapping?

My advice to you would be to avoid it. That's a big red flag, unless you know the car inside out or you know a good mechanic. Me personally I would look for another

Thanks. I read through the DIY on the drivetrain forum. It seems there are a few minor issues. I don't feel like dealing with all of that. I'll pass.

Well, I could be wrong. Every MT G35 I look up on vehiclehistory.com, shows that they are automatic transmission. I took four MT VIN's this morning from eBay, and that all showed as auto. I'd probably use autocheck before hand.

99% of people won't get the gauge cluster to display what gear they are in if it was swapped. Dead giveaway. Other than that, there really aren't any downsides to swapping.

car has a revup motor too so even more reason to believe it was a 6mt all along.
but good God that thing is beat to shitt. find another car |
What # or letter in the Vin says it's automatic? I will look at my vin to compare cuz I have a 6speed
With the fabric on those seats, I don't think they were clever enough for a 6speed swap |
