importing nissan 350GT??

Hey peeps!

Before I get into depth with this thread, I wanted to let you guys know some of what I know, and some insights about the situation.

First off, I currently own a 2004 auto g35 coupe. my dad was the first owner then I bought it off of him for 3k due to if have a minor damages to the body (by minor I mean the rear panel was wrinkled. however I fixed it the proper and expensive way). It is completely stock except for a few things(350z tube, jwt pop charger, and suspension) and have all the parts in the storage. other than that its in okay condition. So, I have saved up a good amount (and the okay from my fiance) to buy an imported car.

Im currently still debating on which car I want to get. I see alot of R32 gts-t and cant see myself enjoying it, plus I feel as though those will be selling in the states like hot cakes with in the next few years. 240sx is meh to me (thanks to kids ruining them) R34 is cool but to expensive and will always be, and gl finding an R33. But then I thought maybe I should get a right hand clip, get down to business, and make a MT replica. But I mind as well just import an MT 350gt with all badges and a perfect vin to match the chassis. So here is what bugging me, and hope someone here knows a thing or 2 to help me along the way :D

I have been researching and cant find answers to importing a 350gt to california. I understand the simpliest way to import a car is to wait til they are 25 years old, But if the car was already sold in the states does this mean this is a similar car and it can be imported with a minor tweaks such as cats, orange corner lights, third brake light etc.?(if this is the case I can just ship it to my friend in jp, have him convert everything, then ship it out)? is there anything I have to understand while importing? whats the actual difference between the 2 that I need to know to import the car. I have been researching and cant find a single thing about importing this car, so I am stuck on page one.

this may sound like a stupid thing to do, but its very rare to find one in the states. this is a sentimental thing I want to do and keep the RHD nissan as long as I can live. besides... ITS A SKYLINE

thanks yall!

California is tough and expensive to get your imported car emissions and safety legal. This place has an imported car inventory, but they're not yet CA ARB approved etc..

Call Japan Partner Inc. they're probably the biggest importer to the US and I have friends that have purchased a few vehicles through them, these guys know their **** and can give you real answers to how the process will actually work. Plus they might already have what you want in storage.
