Should I buy an 04?

Found a pretty clean G35 Coupe 2004 Manual 6 speed with 107k miles clean title for $7500. The interior is almost spotless (except the famous tear spot on the drivers side). The exterior is clean as well, has 1 or 2 paint chips on the whole car that are barely noticeable. Drives really nice, I don't see any oil leaks or any issues mechanically, but I am not a mechanic. Carfax shows good service history until 75k miles, then it wasn't serviced as often(owner says he did work himself) The only catch is the muffler/resonator were taken off, it has 6 owners and the previous owner is a 17 year old kid, he got it as his first car and says he took care of it with his dad. Only owned it for a year and put less than 10k miles on it. I am going to take it to a mechanic and see if they find anything. Is it worth buying it if no issues come up? I have looked at a few other G35s and surprisingly this one drives and looks the best. I am mainly worried that the kid beat on the car causing premature engine wear. However, as I said - this car feels better than the other ones I have looked at.

There's nothing wrong with the '04s. Their engines burn less oil than the 06+ engines which have slightly more horsepower at the top at the expense of torque down low. Treat it as any other G35, although $7500 seems a bit high these days.

Nice thing about the pre-2005 ones is you have the option of the Brembo brakes. Just be aware that even with only 107k miles there's still a TON of stuff that is likely worn out, like the entire suspension. So you'll likely end up investing money into wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rod ends, all bushings including the rear differential bushing.

If you're doing the work yourself it's not a huge deal since the parts are reasonably priced but you'll have a few weekends worth of work replacing everything.

It is. Unfortunately I live in an area with barely any G35s on the market and the price here is higher. Should I invest a few more thousand in a newer one?

06 because of the headlight, taillights, IntelligentKey, interior (changed in 05), and RevUp.

Dont forget the option for RAS in 2006-2007. I love it on mine.

How much should it cost to replace the diff bushings at a shop? That's the only repair that I don't want to do myself. Everything else seems pretty straight forward.

You had me until the 6 owners part.

Don't let these fools discourage you from an 04. All iterations of Gs had arguable benefits and drawbacks. I would never buy a 6 owner car tho, especially if the most recent one was 17 and put 10k miles on it in a year or less.

I wouldn't do it. It's too high for an 04. Save a little more and get yourself an 07-08 G35 sedan HR.

The 03/04 dash and gauge cluster is disgusting. Don't do it my friend.

^^^ Second on the HR sedan. Faster, newer, easy to find babied ones, and nicer interiors. Might be hard to find an unbeaten 6MT though.

Lol it is not faster. All G35s are essentially identical in speed. Between the difference in power, TQ and gearing they all equal out. Hell, even the G37 is basically the same, cuz the difference is within a driver error margin.
