Car won't start this morning....
My car did not start this morning and I was late for work. Had to get my co-worker to come and pick me up.
I went into my garage and unlock the car, than I tried to start it and all I heard was click click click click sound but the engine would not turn. Than the inside door lights starts to flicker for awhile. Than I got out and when I tried to lock my car with my remote there was no beep from the horn. So I gave up and called my friend to pick my up. When I got home this afternoon I went out to CT to buy an eliminator battery charger. I came home and connected the charger and my car fired up without a problem. But my security light came on solid. I shut the car off and restart it again and it was fine. Than the security light returned to normal after I shut it off. Has anyone had this problem? I made an appointment with Alta infiniti for Thursday and hopefully they can find out what went wrong. Anyways just needed to vent!!!   Chewei By the way I have a 2003 6mt coupe. |
Do you have or have done anything to lights or anything to do with bulbs?
Maybe there is something on in the car but you don't know it. Check the lights in the glove box. |
Obviously there is a drain on your battery from somewhere.
Do u have any aftermarket electrical items installed ie: amplifier? Perhaps the alternator is not working properly. Best bet is to take it in for service and have the electrical system checked out. Good luck Chewie!!! B. |
No mods on the car except for the clear bummper corners. On top of that the car is working fine today. It is very interesting that if fired up so easily. I also thought that the alternator might be the culprit, but I am not too sure.
Anyways going to get it checked out at the dealership on Thursday. Thanks for your help 35 Bills and drunkin Master. We will see what happens. |
How are the battery terminals?
|
I had a similar situation last summer. My battery was defective and got a new one when I went in for service.
Also, check your water levels in the battery to make sure they are not low. |
Any aftermarket accessories? Have you tested how much current is being drawn from the battery when the car is off? A bad alternator could cause it to draw current when the car is off too.

G/L with the repairs C. |
if it was the alternator, it would be a distinctive noise. my guess is its a worn/defective battery.

This is just an update to the problem.
I took my car to Alta today and they said that there was a problem with the battery and they replaced the battery but I had to pay 75% of the cost. Alta said the battery was on a pro rated bases. The total cost was $100. I also had them fix my grease streaks on both of my windows. At least my car is back to normal now and boy is it fun to drive. Thanks to everyone for being such a great help. |
