I'm out of your area Bill, but I just wanted to state I have never used an automatic car wash (except when maybe a dealer has run my car through one ). Besides there is only one in my town . I have always just hosed it down at the DIY and as often as I could take a bucket and car wash soap to give it a quick wash during the frigid winter monnths. This year I have finally lucked out and a fellow has opened up a detailing shop in our small town. I have already checked him out for car washes during the winter months, and I told him I would be there for an inside clean and outside wash every 3 weeks or so during the winter months. In between washes I will hose it down at the local DIY.
Hopefully I will have a cleaner car this winter.

Wayne, will the pressure washer at the DIY cause any damage to the laser sensor on the front bumper or to the camera on the back? Do you bring MF cloths to dry your car before you leave in the winter?

I don't think it would hurt as long as you don't hold the wand too close, I always keep it away a couple of feet. It's just to rinse the most of salt and dirt off.
I usually don't dry the car when I do this unless I hand wash it at the DIY. If I just hose it down, I never like to try and dry it since it is not perfectly clean and I don't want to scratch the finish.
What I usually do though afterwards is open all the doors and trunk and let them dry out a bit for a few minutes, so they won't freeze up later.

Thanks Wayne, that's a good idea to open the doors and trunk.

LOL. No but the way the dealer washes it, it might be smarter for me to get it done in T.O. Keep them coming.
