Changing Rear Diff and 6MT Fluids - dealer doesn't use washers?
 

Hi all,

Seeing as how the dealer isn't of any use I thought I would ask the experts. I am changing my 6MT and rear diff fluids and noticed that there were no washers on the filler and drain plugs. I thought huh...those buggers they didn't use them when I had it changed last. I called both dealers in town and neither of them use washers around the filler or drain plugs. Does that sound normal? Also, is the drain plug on the transmission supposed to have the magnet attached or is that only on the rear diff.

Yes, it's normal.

Only the diff has a magnet. After the first change you won't normally find any filings on it.
