Any computer Tech's out there? I NEED HELP
 

This happened after I tried to install easy CD Creator from my BB phone CD ROM.
I cannot load both my DC ROM drives :eek: Windows recognizes them only in the device manager but they do not show up in "my computer" when I go to the device manager and right click on the driver's properties the explanation it gives reads "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."

Now I have tried everything that the trouble shooter has suggested and still nothing, I even physically unplugged the hardware and pluged it back in windows reinstalls both drivers but I get the same problem.
I don't know what else to do besides take it to a shop if anyone can suggest something that would be great.

OH just a note, I am running a free version of AVG this is the first time I am trying this cause Norton's allowed 2 virus to enter my computer in the past so I've given up on Norton's.

If you go to Control Panel --->Computer Management----->Disk Management, do you see your CD Rom drives there?

I tried that too.... but good news I fixed it:biggthumpup: a friend told me to google the error code and see if there is instructions to fix that specific problem, well there was and I fixed it:JAMIN:

I have been using it for a long time and have installed it on many friends PC's over the years. It has always worked flawlessly and uses much fewer resources than Symantec's products. (they are process pigs)
The new version 8 is definitely the best so far.

i kind of thought the opposite. i don't really like the new one. it's got a bunch more processes running in the background (close to 30mb now)... the taskbar pop up's are annoying... and what's with the link checker??? thank god there was a work around posted on the net. avg seems to be turning into the new norton.

anti-virus for me should be completely invisible, non-evasive and compact... something avg used to be. but at least it's still free.

Kapersky is the best AVP program I have used to date; I highly recommend it to anyone (much better than Norton). If you mainly use your computer for just surfing the internet; what you can do is download a sandbox software that runs your applications in an enclosed environment so you will not run the risk of getting a virus. Spybot Search & Destroy also has a very good Proactive defense application which won't interfere with your AVP proactive defense.

I agree with you on the invisible thing. For the avg PC user though, they need reassurance that all is well and that the anti virus software is doing it's job and letting them know.
If you know what you are doing, which obviously you do, then you can disable many of the new "enhancements" in free AVG 8.
AVG 8 is not near as bad as Norton interms of processes, RAM or HD space required to install and operate and the best part is that its a lot cheaper too. :)

Man...Ka S persky...thats takes me back a few years. I havn't used it since the late 90's. I'll have to check it out again. Is it free now?...No. Oh well.

I run Panda Antivirus. I'm an I.T. guy by occupation. Panda can be a little too aggressive sometimes. I brought home a small program on disc called joke.exe and Panda grabbed it and deleted it within the blink of an eye. I wasn't impressed at the time. Very good AV for detecting Spyware as well.

Ha I switched from Norton/AVG/McAfee/ZA to Kapersky back in 2003. Have to say that the operation is more transpartent. I have all my settings on extremely high since I tend to deal with some questionable programming code and it has yet to fail on me or become overly obtrusive yet. For memory usage; right now it is consuming 6MB so pretty light to me.
