Brembo Caliper's

Brembo calipers. Anyone know how often they should be greased?

RBull Feb 17, 2009 06:56 AM

^Are they squeaking and are you talking about the shims/back of pads?

I don't have any problems with my brakes and I was too busy driving the car last summer to take a look at the calipers, but I did notice that they have what appears to be a grease nipple.

^ that's the bleed port, there should be two of them on the Brembos
& definitely a worthwhile spring to-do.

I change my brake fluids every spring.

Ahh! Thats what it is. Thanks for the info. :) I will do a search for a "howto". Never had a high end braking system I assumed it was a grease nipple.

will regular dot3 suffice? what fluid are you guys using?

Using a fluid with a higher boiling point(motul) might be a nice addition if you track your car or drive it hard in the twisties.

I have mine bled at the dealer by machine. Some folks on here seem to be able to their own brakes, however with these ones I've never been able to get all the air out of them myself. There is a dot 4 fluid used but I forget what brand.

All cars have that "grease nipple" for bleeding the brakes but not many have two on each caliper.

Although they were working perfectly last fall I took out my pads and shims, cleaned them up and lubed/coated with anti squeal. I've got 39k on my car and the pads are worn roughly 60% f and 40%r.

WARNING...WARNING...DANGER...DANGER....

Do a search under my name for breaking the bleeder valve. If they have never been serviced before be very..very careful. These things snap easily then you are in trouble...just like I was.
