Michelin Jack
Thoughts on this brand/model or a better similar priced jack.

I have this jack...works really well but it is too big to fit under the front jack point. You have to use a smaller jack to lift it a bit and then fit the bigger jack in under the front of the car.

^ I have the same problem...
I roll up on a couple of planks to get enough room.

I have a stock 07 G35x. Now I'm curious how much jack point clearance difference there is when compared to a 03 coupe or a 08 sport sedan.:dunno:

FYI this is a terrible jack, very poor quality. I know 2 people that bought this jack, both of them have the same problems (broken handle, and leaking hydraulic fluid). You can also see that its not very well rated on CT. Reading one of the reviews on the site: "...The keyed handle end bent outwards after about a year of use. Now, I must use a set of pliers to open and close the hydraulic cylinder...", both of my friends have complained about having to do this exact same thing with theirs as well.

I was looking at getting the same jack when it was on sale end of last year some time but ended up deciding against it (still haven't picked one up yet)

That's wierd. I use this thing pretty religiously every week just about for the past year and haven't had a single problem. It has worked like a charm.

I read all 8 CT reviews. 7 of them really like it.
1 review doesn't like it but only because he claims it doesn't have enough lift to raise the wheel of a Hyndai Elantra. Weird because a guy in another review jacks his GMC truck with it. This particular jack (09-1054, 3.5 ton Michelin jack) has a max lift height of 22". The clearance is 5 1/2 inches. :dunno:
I don't see the review you quoted. Are we talking about the same jack?

I have personally jacked the entire rear end of the G using the rear diff as a jack point and it lifted it without even flinching. I also used this to jack the entire front end of our Subaru outback yesterday while changing the winter tires out - not a problem. It is a really good jack.

We all know this jack is most likely branded merchandise & not actually mfg'd by Michelin.
I find it difficult to believe that Michelin would put their name on an inferior product.
The sole purpose of this product is marketing of the name.

The beauty of CT is if you dont like something you buy there, they will almost always let you return it...no questions asked.

CT used to sell a low profile Jack also Micheling brand, but they stop selling it....if you need a low profile jack check out part source they have a few models last time I checked.

An excellent jack, and a decent price, with two jack stands. I can get this under my lowered maxima with the front lip and room to spare. Scroll down to the OTC stinger

I have the low profile aluminium jack, its good for changing tires and fluid, but it only lifts like 18", thats my only issue with it.

This one, lifts 22" I believe...much better if you need to get under the car...

There is a red one at CT, i think it might be motomaster... really cheap I got mine for like 30 bucks or something rediculously cheap like that. Has an auto mech locking device incase it fails. Used for over a year now to change my tires. Also too high to go under the jack point, but i just angle it on the steep driveway/road to solve that problem.

oops, yah I was actually looking at a different cheaper michlean jack.
