I couldn't be more UN-HAPPY right now....
So I get my Gback today after all the mods have been put on.
The car is nice and tight now with the new Compression rods in, the Coupe Brakes and X-drilled rotors definitly bite more than the sockers..... Now most of you know I had Megan Racing Headers and resonated Test pipes put on.......................... WORST DECISION I'VE EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My car is soooooo raspy its embarrassing :crying::35:coming home I had so many people looking at me I wanted to hide my head in shame. As soon as the RPM's reach 2.5K right up to 3.5K it sounds like a civic with a straight pipe other than that its fine. I'm calling all Sedan owners for advice here, could I be getting this sound because of the stock muffler? could it be just from the headers? could it be just from the test pipes? I DON'T KNOW I JUST NEED HELP QUICK!! |
Its the test pipes for sure. You should just swap those out and you'll be fine.

test pipes man. i went the same route and was not impressed. damn i hate that raspy noise!
|
i have test pipes, and have that rasp too.... :/
idk if better test pipes will help, or what to do... i think im springing an exhaust leak, at idle i get weird noises under my car now. |
It is a combination of both, headers and tes pipes. The headers will cause more rasp. The solution is the get a goo resonator down the line and you will be just fine.
Been there done that, on a different platform though. Had the same issue, put headers on with a complete new exhaust and just HATED the rasp. One 17" resnated TP did the trick, and it cost about $70. A turbo will also eliminate the rasp , just as an FYI. |

Well by judging your comments looks like its back to stock cats for now, I'd rather lose the little gain I had in favour of getting my old sound back problem now is these headers I put in are probably a waist of time and money.

Hey Roy, haven't been down that road myself.
But I'd say t.pipes too from several other threads I've seen. |
Thats too bad Roy. I wonder if the Stillen catback might help, exwrx has his for sale from his 04.

I'll probably try the stock cats this weekend if that solves it I'll sell the test pipes to someone who appreciates the sound. I must have a curse on me when it comes to performance upgrades (probably from my wife) I tried a bunch of performance mods on my Lude and all was just a waist of money. |

LOL Ya turbo....naw I wouldn't waist that much money, what the heck is a goo resonater?? I have a coupe mid pipe now and it has a resonator your telling me I need another one?

Get hi flow cats they will be near the same power gains with out the rasp. Test pipes are a mistake on these cars....unless of course you are turbo or 16yrs old and don't mind the noise :)
