coupe driver's old gen fx35 experience

Hi Guys,
i always had an eye on the old gen fx35, since i know they are going to be affordable in the near future and still keep the exhaust tune.(i love the new gen, but not rich enough to afford that one:) )

we went to blue mountain on the weekend, all trip i was in the back.... wow what a loud SUV that is :) seriously i know from my friends who sit in the back seat of my coupe but this is too much for a SUV. its even louder than g35s. suspension is too stiff, and thank God we did not end up going with 5 person, i cant imagine going all that way with 3 people in the back.

it was definitely a let down for me, i cant imagine my future child in the back of that SUV :) (i dunno maybe he'll like it, my nephew loves to hang around in my g coupe's back seat, he is making exhaust sounds with his mouth all the time :bowrofl: )

i think i ll rather go for a murano or something else.

p.s: i wonder how the new Gen feels, im sure different but have they resolved the noise issue???

Honestly, if you want something with room the "big G" is really not your best bet. Even on paper it's a pretty small vehicle with only slightly more leg room and head room than a G sedan.

IMO, buy a Honda Pilot.

I had a Gen 1 FX as a loaner once. Same experience. Gave my head a shake.

FWIW, Nissan Pathfinder is quieter (brother has an '07). 2008 Toyota RAV4 V6 belonging to a co-worker is also quite noisy, as is a '00 Hindgrinder (Highlander).

Moral from this sample set? Box on wheels = noisy.

My 09FX is quiet and I had a couple with me on the Fall Cruise last year and they said the back seat was quite comfortable and roomy during their 200+km run with us.
Blain (4DGS) is correct though, it's seating is comparable to the sedan but it has a much better front seating height/legroom as compared to the sedan and more available cargo space. The 2nd Gen is also softer riding than the 1st Gen FX.
My wife and I prefer it over our last 2 sedans for long distant cruises.
Mustafa, you'll have to come for a ride next time we meet up.

Hi Wayne,
I kinna predict looking at the g37s(new generation) yours would be way much comfortable and quiet. I remember looking at yours in one of the cruises, yours make the old gen look like 1990s with all those bird-eye cameras and gizmos. we were hearing your exhaust tune all the time, it should ahve a pretty good noise isolation system.

i did drive 2008 x5 4.8 fully loaded last week, wow what a SUV that is, the speedometer on the windshield, even showing the navigation's directions is incredible, besides it was so comfortable and fast, the steering wheel was so responsive and brakes felt like brembos. but again those are easy 40-50k second hand.

That's what we have as our DD. I can't complain. It's comfortable to ride in and I got really decent mileage driving out to the coast last summer. 9L/100Km.

It's a 2006. I like to looks of the new ones too, though they somehow look smaller.

im leaning towards the tires being the culprit... but that is the nature of the beast. If you want a quiet SUV w a compliant ride, get a Lexus RX.
