I'd like to know, what does the Governor General do? Especifically for Canada and the working tax payers? And yes, I know what her role is...but I want to know WHAT DOES SHE DO FOR US? :confused:

Complete figurehead. Female, minority, ex media (crown corp too). Looks, talks and acts good. Does nothing for us of any significance that really needs to be done though. Expensive lifestyle, home, office, travel and entourage.

Absolute ridiculous position being the conduit from the Queen of Commonwealth to our head of country- PM. Please get rid of this dated tradition and operate like more of a democracy.;)

We can sure do without her expenses, which in light of what came forth last year, are quite extensive.....:(

......but I feel the same toward a lot of our 'politicians'......Some of those clowns don't do much, if anything, for us either, and then of course there's the 'crooks' who have bilked us for mucho dinero......GRRRRRRR:mad:

I've said it many times: "We can't afford all this pomp and politics......" ....
But at my age, I'm not going to worry about it any more, since I can't afford any more gray hairs. :p :)

I agree with everything except...."Looks, talks and acts good." :eek:

Guess that's a subjective thing and I think there is some credit due here.

She does look pretty good for a 50 something woman, speaks articulately and plays the part well or acts good.

What I think we all agree on is - why the h do we have that role in the first place and why do taxpayers have to support it??? There are no substantive beneficial outcomes especially in relation to the cost of that office.
