Everyone likes NSX's, right?
Some of you may have seen this at Autopia. I'm mostly posting it here because I'm using a new polish combo that I'm liking a lot and want to share. I know some of you use Optimum Polish and Compound, well someone at Autopia came up with the idea of mixing it 50/50 which makes for a good swirl remover than finishes down really nicely *and* is usable in the sun.
1991 Acura NSX, daily driver (I know, I love that he drives it daily :2thumbs: ). Moderate swirling, some deeper scratches, paint was a little pinkish with some oxidation on the hood. It'd never been polished. Unfortunately we only had about 3 hours, so I was only able to one polishing step. Luckily it came out *really* well. I'm going to fill in some chips and hit it with FPII at a later date and top with Souveran, should be almost perfect then. I used Nattys today because the owner is going on a 50 car drive with a bunch of exotics next weekend and wanted it to really pop. You need to start doing a mobile detail to all the high end guys...You're awesome!!! If i had a Ferrari i would pay for you to detail my car...Keep up the good work! :)

WOW !!! GREAT WORK !!! I love red on cars... but when it gets old, it just looks faded. But you made it look wet and shiny !!! GREAT JOB... keep it up

Thanks guys. When I lived in San Francisco a large portion of my clients were Ferrari/Lambo/other exotic owners, but here in Toronto there are a lot fewer exotic owners, and it's kind of hard to get a foot in the door; so I am working on it!

The NSX is my dream car ...Wanted to get a used one instead of a brand new G but I had to go with the G cause it had warranty ..

I'm sure you do great detail works but the comparison pics aren't fair. There are a lot more close ups of before pics and very little after pics of the same exact spots. Before and after results were probably a lot different and showed great work but pics can't always showcase the in person results. Nonetheless, good job.

Great work Picus as always. I assure you picus's work is top notch, very few people understand the products and the detailing process as well as he does. I understand that pictures aren't great comparisons always but you can be sure this is the real deal.

Without going into the fact that I'm a mobile detailer, the sun moves over the course of 3 hours, the customer was talking to me during the befores (which is why they're out of focus), the fact that I am unwilling to bring a tripod I get the exact same angle in every picture, etc... I will just go ahead and link some before and afters which should satisfy your curiousity. I always try to take "afters" in full sun/halogen light just in case someone is skeptical. It's impossible to hide defects with 90 degree full on sun hitting the paint.
Oh, and for the record on the befores, I just randomly snapped pictures of parts of the car; I didn't pick "the worst" spots, just spots that were indicative of the overall condition of the car. Had I wanted to pick the worst spots I'd have shown the multiple long deep scratches on the decklid. http://gtaindetail.com/pics/acuransx060406/photo.jpg http://gtaindetail.com/pics/acuransx060406/photo5.jpg Same spot, different angle because we moved the car and it was 3 hours later, nice thing is the after has more sun. If you know how to hide swirls in that kind of sun you'll have to fill me in on the trick. http://gtaindetail.com/pics/acuransx060406/photo7.jpg Same spot a litle further out. Again, full sun. I didn't get befores on the rear deck lid because I was talking to the customer, so you'll have to believe me when I tell you it was in much worse shape than the hood. If you think I'm B.S'ing..ok. http://gtaindetail.com/pics/acuransx060406/fs.jpg I don't put shots like that on my site because they tend to be rather uninspiring for most people (unless your a paint geek like us), as you can see the shot was so sunny that the camera had a hard time metering it. I actually have thought about this issue for awhile (more dramatic shots vs. more paint shots on the site), and in 99% of cases people who see the site agree that if it were all closeups of halogens it'd be boring. Luckily I take them to post on places like Autopia, and for situations like this. So yes, there were still some defects on the car. I mentioned that in the first post; I had 3 hours to do this and will be doing another compounding step to get some of the deep stuff later. That said, a good 95% of the defects were removed. If you would like a whole slew of before/afters in full sun or halogen I have literally hundreds. Oh, one more thing. A nice thing about being a G35 owner myself is I work on a lot of the guys cars locally. They're all on the boards; if anyone is skeptical of my work I would be very happy to put you into contact with them (G-Force, whatacar, msedanmann, endless-g, etc...) Cheers. |
Don't get worked up over my post. I didn't mean to bring you any negative publicity. I was just commenting that the pics can't really show how good a detail job is compared to in person. I've seen a few of your picture threads and your work is impressive.

There's actually a whole "picture contreversy" of sorts going on at Autopia that I've managed not to become a part of, so I guess your post kind of struck a nerve (even though you didn't mean it that way). I don't want to be one of those "pretty picture detailers". :) Cheers. |
