Washing and Waxing the G
#46
Just curiosu for the weekly washers. How dirty does your car get? After a week, mine just has alot of dust. Seem like a waste of time to wash it every week if there isn't an major dirt on the car. I'm thinking of getting a california duster and washing maybe biweekly.
But if there is a reason for washing weekly, please let me know!

Well I re-learned how to detail after I bought my brand new '06 G35 sedan last August. My previous car was a Jag that I had for 13 years. I belonged to a local car wash who sold a VIP membership. For $30 a month you were entitled to unlimited washes. I did notice my white jag had a lot of swirls. After awhile I didn't care, I just wanted a clean car.
After purchase of the G35 I was going to make it a point to not have swirls - at least as long as possible. I took my new G to the car wash and then saw the wash/dry cycle through a different set of eyes. What I saw was disgusting - cotton rags that were used to dry wheels/lower body and then to upper body paint. Those rags then went from car to car. Disgusting... No wonder my jag had swirls. Then they stomped all over my floor boards while trying to wipe down the roof. Nevertheless, I never went back.
I re-learned how to properly detail. Bought a PC - which got rid of the car wash swirls and some DISO. I now wash my car, by hand using the 3 bucket method weekly. I use the california duster and QD almost daily (takes about 15 minutes). The best person to maintain your car clean, glossy, swirl free is yourself. In the process I found it was a great stress reliever.
