waxing

This is a noob question but how long should i wait after applying the wax until i take it off

Cassman 03-15-2007 10:30 AM

I don't know what you are exactly using. If you are using something like NXT, you should wait until you can successfully do the swipe test. The swipe test is that you literally take your finger and swipe an area that you have waxed. If the paint is clear where you have swiped, vs. hazy or smeared, you can remove the wax. If not, let it continue to haze, dry, set up or whatever you want to call it.

Like Cassman said, it depends on the type wax, and humidity as well plays a factor.

My wax doesn't require a hazing period, I just apply it an wipe it right off....

P21S.....Other synthetic polishes require time to "set". Read the directions on your wax and let that be your guideline.

im using NXT i wax my whole car before i take it off but it is still kinda hazy/streaky when i take it off and have to mad rub it to get it glossy

sounds like you are putting too much on....a thin layer will work

Deezflip 03-15-2007 02:44 PM

I have the NXT, usually i wax the car starting on one side and make my way around, by the time i get back around to where i started, it's usually dry and good enough to buff out, ...that was on a 55 degree dry day.

Wax on wax off.......when?

Like many members have said, it depends on the weather/humidity etc. I use
Zymol councourse in the winter I can do half my hood before removing but in
the summer I'm lucky to do a quarter before the wax hardens. Generally
speaking the flat surfaces will dry quicker.....hood, top and trunk lid. So you
should be ready to remove it soon after application in the warmer weather
from those areas........LOL
