Thank GOD for Clear Bra's
Well I'll try to keep this short...
Just on my way back from getting a hair cut and was traveling down the road that leads to my neighborhood. This road was just re-paved about 3 weeks ago, and already a small sink hole had started to open up. A rather large late 80's Ford Puke-up truck (jacked up suspension and monster type tires) swerved into my lane. He hit this newly formed sink hole and all of a sudden maybe 20-40 large, golfball sized pieces of asphalt played a symphany across my front bumper. I swear I almost cried. I was so mad that this BLEEP (self sensored) just cut me off and sprayed my front end w/ asphalt. Well, needless to say, I floored the G and got around said swamp thing and went straight home. To my surprise, there was NO DAMAGE what so ever to my precious G. I couldn't even tell where the asphalt had hit the car. Friday I put on coats 3 and 4 of Zaino and it still looks as good as new. Well that's my rant. I was really mad at the dork who cut me off, but that anger has turned into happiness for me spending the $500 on the C-Bra. And to think I skipped Chruch today... 2004 Infiniti G35C-6MT LR/Willow/Premium/Aero/Splash/BSM 30% Lumar Tint, Invinca Shield (C-Bra), Z-Tube & JWT Pop Charger |
Re: Thank GOD for Clear Bra's
Good to hear. I recently polished/waxed the car and noticed a few chips in the front bumper. My only response is eh, that's why I like to lease.

Re: Thank GOD for Clear Bra's
I have several friends that own body shops in the Bay Area and from what they tell me on average w/ what they charge on repainting certain areas of a typical car, it's approximately $400 each for the front bumper, hood, fenders. Now, this is what they charge for premium paint and high quality work. I've had people ask me how much a clearbra costs while I'm doing an install............my usual answer is "starting @ $500". They just kinda go off about how expensive it is and that they could get all of those pieces painted for about that much............funny thing is the paint job looks like crap @ that price.
So yes, the clearbras aren't cheap, but much cheaper than getting those areas repainted in a couple of years. Pearl White 2003 Sedan & 2004 Coupe 6MT Certified Window Tint & Detailing Specialist Clearshield ("Clearbra") Authorized Dealer Madico Authorized Dealer syu@machiii.net |

Where in Orlando did you have your Clearbra installed? Also, I only need the front bumper done because suprisingly the other strategic areas were already protected. I guess Grubbs does this automatically. I was curious about the cost of doing just the front bumper. 2004 Coupe/DG/Graph/5AT/Premium/CB/ and CG Baby! |
Re: Thank GOD for Clear Bra's
do you need to take the clear bra off everytime the weather gets bad? Is it like a regular bra?

Re: Thank GOD for Clear Bra's
G354EVR,
The guys name is Alan Seligman, and he'll come to your house and apply the C-bra in your garage. I've already sent him a friend (Ian, whom I met at the Orlando meet). Alan's phone # is 407-927-1900. Tell him Todd Neff referred you to him and tell him that you want a good deal (he does not pay commision on referrals, but it might do me some good in the future as far as him "hooking me up" on my next vehicle). He does FANTASTIC work. There were +/- 6 people who had different types of C-bra's applied to their G-Coupes at the Orlando meet, and practically everyone told me that mine was the nicest (and I agree). Some of the jobs were pretty bad in comparison. Give him a call, he's a nice guy. Kerry, The clear bra is a 3M film that is permanently applied to your car (it can be removed but can never be reapplied again) It is a .008" thick clear film that is put over your paint. It is also very similar to window tint, however it is much stronger and much more durable. It's sole purpose in life is to keep bug guts from etching into your paint, and to keep rocks from chipping the paint on the front end of your car. I had no idea that when going ~40 mph and hitting multiple, golf ball sized pieces of asphalt, that the c-bra would hold up to this kind of abuse. It is an amazing product which I will definitely put on my next vehicle. Today I would have been calling body shops trying to get paint damage repaired for my car, and would have been in a horrible mood seeing how my G only has 1269 miles on her. Fortunately I'm posting this message and in great spirits!!! Life is good!!! Great, glad it held up for you...I am off to the nearest clear bra shop to "shop" for mine.
Thanks for the info. Kerry |
Re: Thank GOD for Clear Bra's
Neff, I know how you felt, when the asphalt attack happened to you. I was driving on 408 west and lo and behold a construction dump truck merges onto my lane. It was during traffic so I couldn't change to a different lane. As the truck started moving forward, rock debris started flying from the top of the truck's container onto the road. I tried to keep a safe distance. Everything turned slow motion, as I watched a rock the size of my pinky finger ping my bumper. I wanted to friggin terminate somebody. As soon as I reached my destination, I look in my front, and there's more rock scatches than I already had and a deep scratch at the top middle of my bumper that can fit a corner of a credit card. Pissed couldn't even be a word that described me that day.
I took my car to Dayas body shop in longwood (that what orlando infiniti uses) and now they quoted/estimated a 500 dollar job just to repaint the lower bumper. I said, "Can't you just use the touch up paint to fill in the scratches, and re clear coat it, and polish & buff it out?." They said, "We need to repaint the entire bumper to ensure color matching to the rest of the vehicle." I thougt to my self that this was a bunch of BS. Lesson learned. Neff, I should have bought that clear bra as soon as you gave me Alan's contact info. You said that Alan fixed some of your rock chips/scratches before he put on the bra. Do you think he would do mine? Did he charge u extra for that? 2k4 - 6 mt, diamond graphite coupe |

Demonteverde321 (aren't you Ian?)
No extra charge for the touchup. He did perform small miracles on my 4 pin sized rock chips, but as far as being able to stick a credit card into it... Dunno? He told me that he's been doing the touch up work for the same 6+ years that he's been doing the clear bra installs. I'm amazed at his professionalism and attention to detail. I still need to call him next week or so to have him "etch" some of the edges that didn't lay down perfectly. (Apparently this is typical where about .002"-.004" of the edge lifts up slightly or doesn't lay down perfectly. He said he'd take a razor blade and trim it off in 2 minutes.) BTW, remind me never to give you sh!t about anything (especially with that Brazilian jiu jitsu background). Re: Thank GOD for Clear Bra's
Hey, Todd, it's me, Ian.
I did call Alan today. He gave me the whole break down on the clear bra (how much, how long it takes, etc.) He was a very nice guy and answered all my questions. I didn't debate with him on the price ($600) yet because I think I may have to bite the bullet and get my bumper resprayed ($400-500 - damn, so much for popcharger, z tube). He said, "Whenever you're ready, give me a call." I told him that you referred me, and he was surprised/happy that you spread the word. Since I live in an apartment and don't have a garage, he even offered to take my car while I was at work, do the job at his house (lake mary) and then return it. I didn't say anything, but I was thinking "In your dreams, buddy." Thinking about getting the scratches fixed at dayas body shop in longwood (dayas.com). The estimate was somewhat high, but I know they'll do a good job (very clean professional shop). Saw someone's green g35 sedan, 2k4 MB SL600, old classics and various BMW's being dismantled and repainted which was very interesting to watch. Rahshan, the guy who came along with me for the G35 meet who you met, bought a pearl white auto TL with Nav. The car is pretty damn quick (took it up to 90mph on Econ Trail). He's challenging me to race at bithlo once his break in miles are done. Guess I better start practicing my launches cuz right now they suck. 2k4 - 6 mt, diamond graphite coupe |
