I had the same in my coupe and I loved it but they burnt out after a month. I guess they were getting too much voltage or something. I haven't replaced them yet but I probably will.

I think Ed uses neons..

I went with amber LEDs in both front footwells (2 ea side) and 1 under each seat firing backwards. they match the dash lighting. Most people think they are stock, heck.. a lot of people do not even notice until you point them out. They are bright (not enough for daylight) , but unobtrusive.

here's my thread on parts and install

The pixes are missing, so here are a few from my mods page that you can link to in my sig.

they are much brighter without the interior courtesy lights on. And the graphite carpet soaks up a lot of color. My white Nike's really reflect the color! My wife can go thru her purse on the floor board at night without the map lights on.

I used Varads, as they are plug and play (have the resistors in them already) total for parts, under $40 and I have LEDs left over. Installed some 6" LEDs tubes in the trunk.

I did some blue cold cathode (PC case) light under my dash, under the front seats and two LED spots on the lower center console. I used standard PC connectors that I hot wired to the fuse box. Easy to install! I also hooked up a sound sensor with them and they either stay on constant or blink to sound.

Here's a pic.
