what's a good wax?

i'm currently using p21s on my car, but it doesn't seem to last very long.. what are your recommendations?

i have an 2006 dg coupe. thanks.

how much are you willing to spend?

there's good $50 dollar waxes and there are really good 250 dollar waxes. then there's even better 600 dollar ones and then there's the totally insane 2500 one

I wanted to try that p21s on my black coupe...how do you like it? Willing to get rid of the rest? :D

Personally the new meguiars NXT 2.0 is one of the best waxes out there...it has an awesome shine and it will last for a long time.

i personally love the p21s.. just would hope it lasts a little longer.. probably like 2 weeks max

willing to spend no more than $50

ac419 Jun 27, 2008 02:40 PM

so what do you guys use before the wax? i've use to use klasse aio then glaze.. but just been getting too damn lazy lately :(

TheIvoryG Jun 27, 2008 02:44 PM

You won't get much more durability out of any nuba than P21s. Maybe you should try a sealant instead...you'll get a good 6-8 weeks out of it but the shine is definitely different.

I love my P21s. My car shines like no other on it and it feels like butta :JAMIN:

my friend recommended it to me as he's got a pretty good detailing regimen down. Here's his car, 80k+ miles and it still looks like new. pics don't do it justice though

As ivory said, a sealant will fill in the durability your seeking. I switch to sealants during the fall/winter/spring when it rains a lot. Layering with Zaino is great, that was one major reason I picked it over NXT. Felt safer to me :dunno:. NXT actually costs more than Zaino in Canada but that shouldn't be a problem for you.

ac419 Jun 27, 2008 07:14 PM

i've heard great things about zaino.. anyone have their site where i can purchase from or what kind of sealant? i was using klasse glaze, i think that's a sealant

TheIvoryG Jun 27, 2008 07:52 PM

zainostore.com

Zaino has great products, but the look is very different. Hard candy shell type, kind of a plasticky look. Personally, I love the look. I go back and forther between it and P21s....I think just based on my mood.

I've been using wolfgang's deep gloss sealant 3.0, topped with pinnicle souveran liquid wax. Both go on easy. Car looks great. Each will cost $35.

chemical guy's 50/50 paste wax

if you aren't willing to spend a little over 50(cause shipping bumps it up)

chemical guy's pete's 53, natty blue paste wax, pinnacle sourveran are all good waxes

Garnet Canuck Jun 27, 2008 09:30 PM

A recommendation from most detailers is to apply a sealant for its durability and then apply a carnuba over top of it for the added depth and shine. Let your sealant cure for at least 24 hours and then apply your carnuba of choice.

CG 50/50 < the new p21s IMO especially on lighter colors. Regardless of what you use or what color car try layering Danase Wet Glaze between coats. Makes a huge difference in look & longevity.
