Paint/Clear Coat Damage or Not?
Hey all, a couple of years ago I decided to debadge the "G35" from my trunk....I really didn't have a clue back then and tried to remove the ghosting with alot of Scratch X; I probably did so 3 times before this weird problem(pictured below) arised. It is smooth but it appears as if there are little clear splotches that surrounds the upper left part of the "3". Like I said, it was a few years ago and I am hesitant to try anthing else to make it worse because right now it is only visible at the right angle and light condition. My intent was obviously to remove the ghosting which, as you can see, is still there after 2 years!! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Not sure what the clear spolotches are, I wasn't able to see them in the picture. Assuming the clear coat is intact and you don't think there is any damage to it I would use a different polish combo. The Scratch X is a pretty mild polish. I would use the Meguiar's Ultra Finishing Polish M205 which is a better light polish in my opinion. If that is enough the Meguiar's Ultra-Cut Compound M105 will almost certainly remove the ghosting. When you are done the surface should look optically clear with no more ghosting. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to help.

It is! But the thing is, there are 3 distinct colors of the paint: paint that was under debadge, normal paint, and then this whitish gray area in question. If it were paint fading, would it not just be 2 shades, ie paint under debadge and paint outside debadge? It is VERY visible right now after applying polish for the 15 or so seconds! :/
