anybody ever used the "ICE" clear polish? pro's and cons
 

just wondering if you guys have ever used "ice" polish before. just wanted to hear the pro's and con's.

i have used it. it does pretty good. gives a nice smooth finish.

Pro - it is cheap
Con - there are some much better waxes

The turtle wax ice stuff? I got fantastic results with it.
I live in a condo without a garage and this stuff can be applied in direct sunlight, comes off super easy, and can get you a decent result without much skill required.
If you do have access to a garage 24/7, there are better waxes out there.

Pros- it is cheap and available OTC.
Cons- It is ****.

Pick up a Clay Magic Blue Claybar at Autozone and clay your car. Videos on youtube will show you how to use it, it's easy.

Then just use a good filling glaze like Meguiars No. 7, and then a nice wax such Meguiars 26. Not the best by my standards, but all of these products are available Over The Counter(OTC).

I've used some of the products and was somewhat impressed for the money but I don't think I'd keep using it.

For my sealant I use NuFinish's Once a Year Car Polish. It's synthetic paste so it can be applied in direct sunlight and after a clay bar it goes on and comes off really easy. I put it on probably 2 months ago or more and the rain and water still beads off the car like it did when first applied.

I used that when I first started detailing. Compared to what I use now, that stuff isn't very good at all. It is cheap, but also a sub-par product IMO.

Very true and some of us do detailing and would never get caught using crap like nufinish.

I use it it because it's cheap and fast, I can put it on in less than half an hour.

When I have some time I'll usually use the meguiars NXT, but not really diggin that lately.

It sucks living in Canada because there are so few places to buy car care products, without mailorder. I'm going to put an order together soon though.

I can wax a car in 15 minutes :dunno:

Start up a thread when you are going to get new stuff so we can help you and recommend some products. And yea, NXT is ok. I use it in door jambs and on the paint under the hood.

If you want a good-looking wax that is going to last you a long time, go with Collinite 845(Liquid) or 915(Paste). Personally I like 915 more because it looks slightly better and has slightly more carnauba, but 845 is stupidly easy to use and will last you a good 4-6 months and look much better than nufinish. I haven't had a problem with it staining my trim like Nu-Finish or NXT either. You can get it off of eBay.

Now that I think about it, he has Bilt-Hamber Auto Balm coming in soon which is amazing at filling in swirls and looking really good. It doesn't bead however, but it will last a good 5-8 months and look real good, and it also darkens and protects trim.

I just got some and cant wait to try it out.I didnt buy it to hide cobwebs or swirls though.I hear it sheets water off instead of beading which would be much better then leaving the beads on when the sun comes back out right after a thunderstorm.

I have used it and it's okay for a quick shine, but as you 'mature' as a detailer you'll realize it's far better to do take the time and do a proper job with better products, and get near-professional results.
