Remove bad smell
So I recently found a dead mouse on the backseat floorboard of my car...I have no idea how it got there. Just wondering if anyone has any helpful tips to get rid of the bad smell that is left in the car. I used frebreeze and left it opened up to air out, but its still there a little.

an ozone machine will work wonders but they are expensive, there might be a place you can rent one

Why not replace your floormat. I personally would not be using a floormat that had dead rat sitting on.. *barf*

What I typically do is scrub the carpet with a deoderizing cleaner, something like Chemical Guys Fabric Clean works great. Then after cleaning, I'll put a plate of baking soda near the affected area. Be sure to remove it before you drive as you don't want it going all over your car.
Hope this helps, George Also consider picking up a cleaner/deodorizer with enzymes that "eat" organic matter you're smelling from the rat remains. I use "odourstroyer" from Zep. |
Years ago, I heard a theory that if you put coffee grinds onto a cookie sheet, and leave it in your car overnight, it absorbs the smell. My first car was a smokers car. I did the coffee grind thing, and it worked quite well actually. (I wouldn't brew it though hahaha)
I suppose this is along the same line as baking soda. |
